I'm so very on the fence about getting this thing. I mean, I really want to play Zelda, but I haven't been truly into a Zelda game since Majora's Mask. I felt once it hit Wind Waker "something" changed. It lost that indescribable factor to me. Me and the wife could really get down with Mario Kart and 1-2 Switch looks great to take over to the friends house. I'll see how I fell late Thursday night.

 

So I was thinking about how I've seen a lot of people complaining about the joy cons and how they wish they weren't gimmicky motion controllers similar to the Wiimotes.

I wonder if all future Nintendo consoles will have to have some sort of motion control because of the Wii and Virtual Console. It's clear Nintendo knows that people repurchase older games on their new console. That was part of their reasoning, supposedly, that they made limited quantities of the NES classic. They supposedly didn't think people would buy those games again.

So if they wanted to add Wii games that relied on the motion controls to future VCs, they would either have to already have that capability in the controller already or make a new controller. I know I'd be more likely to buy the game if I didn't have to buy a whole new controller just to play it.

 

I think like with the Gamecube adapter, the potential solution of just building in wiimote (or now joycon) compatibility to whatever console comes next makes a new motion controller with every generation not necessary. I think they were included because Nintendo sees a lot of value in winning back the massive Wii audience. I don't really think it will work (doubly so if 1-2 Switch was their best idea), but if they finally don't feel compelled to shoehorn the tech into games that don't need it, it shouldn't be too big a deal. And I wouldn't mind Switch Sports.

 

I originally wasn't planning any getting anything on launch other than The Switch and Zelda, but I think as soon as get home I'm gonna buy I Am Setsuna and Fast RMX.

 

I preordered Binding of Isaac, and I want to buy Setsuna, Snipperclips, Shovel Knight, and maybe Bomberman

 

was thinking the same but I really want something to try out multi player using the individual joy cons

 

I'm definitely getting Snipperclips, will probably bite on yet another copy of Shovel Knight.

 

I know someone who works at a Best Buy and they got all their shipments in today. They were bragging to me about getting to see the box. :P

Yeah I'm stupidly excited. Me and my girlfriend are bringing 1-2-Switch to her mom's house on Sunday, and I'm most excited for that. She is a mid-50's super awesome weed smoking Deadhead loaded to the brim with sass, with no video game experience, and I can't wait to see her be all "how many fucking ice cubes are in here?!".

 

I'm holding off on getting the Switch for the time being. Will pick one up down the road probably... once the lineup becomes stronger. And I wanna make sure it gets 3rd party support.

But I am absolutely amped up about getting Breath of the Wild on Wii U. Holy crap it's gonna be awesome.

 

I just asked, they said they didn't know. Basically they just saw the 6 shipping crates full of consoles.

6 shipping crates full of these things kind of sounds like a lot of units though, so hopefully they got plenty of accessories too.

 

I'm a little concerned that I haven't received shipping notifications or updates from target or Best Buy on the console and game.

Has anyone been getting updates?

I wish a really big multiplayer game (other than 1, 2, switch) was being launched with the console. I'm going to spend a lot of time on Zelda but I want a good multiplayer game as well.

 

^on that notee, does anyone know if overcooked or any indie games releasing the next 2-3 months will have online multiplayer? VS or coop.

We could set up a session that way.

IGN absolutely trashed the Switch for the dumbest reasons. "There's no way to lay the system on its side while docked". OMG. Who cares!? And I could give a shit less if I could stream Netflix and browse the internet on this thing or not.

 

alright, swung by Gamestop after work and got it all paid off, now to just wait it out. forgot to ask about adding accessories though, wanna snag that hybrid case

 

Not having Netflix when the competitors have it, and it was available on the Wii, is a huge mistake. Just because you don't care about it doesn't mean that it isn't a major negative against it.

 

yeah I'm all in for the switch and I think not supporting Netflix at launch is, at the very least, pretty odd. Additionally, I'm cool with it not being available on day 1, but not even mentioning some of their plans for VC pre-launch is a bummer
