I don't think I've seen this here, but prepare to have your minds fucking blown. Some of the VFX and dialogue reminds me of Kung Fury, which I can appreciate.

Get Out was fuxking nuts. I honestly can't say that it was scary, because it wasn't, but it was consistently weird and entertaining. Reminded of a really good episode of The Twilight Zone

Wait what? I'm confused... they're making a sequel to Thw Shallows?

No just a different shark movie

I think it wasn't going to be released, then The Shallows came out and did ok, so now it is

Watched Cheap Thrills last night. I had high hopes because I really like Pat Healy and Sara Paxton. I think I would have enjoyed the movie more, but one sequence of events really put a sour taste in my mouth. the death of the dog and the subsequent meal made out of it

Cheap Thrills had a really good pace and managed to stay grounded. A lot of movies with a similar premise tend to get a little too caught up in themselves. That being said, I do wish the story took a bit few more turns. It felt like the whole thing was very much getting from point A to point B, and while it did that well, I think I would have liked to see point C, or at least a few detours.

No it's Mandy Moore stalked by a shark but instead of being on a rock or a buoy, she's 40+ meters under the ocean surface.

Like Deep Impact and Armageddon. Or Dante's Peak and Volcano.

Get Out was phenomenal. The comedic relief was on point too.

Finally watched The Shallows. I was confused and thought I was watching some advertisement for a surf company. Way too much time was spent focusing on her non-existent ass. It just made no logical sense. Why use a wet-suit top but no bottom?

The ending was also completely ridiculous, by the way.

Was that geared toward me? Yea, sorry, I don't find Blake Lively attractive. Obviously most of the movie hinged on Lively alone, but I didn't agree with just about all of the choices she made throughout the movie. Then, the ending was something so convenient/unbelievable that it took me out of whatever tension was there.

So in order for you to enjoy the movie, the lead actress has to be attractive?

That comment you made earlier about her "non-existent" ass was disgusting.

No, quite the opposite. Most of the movie was parading the actress and her looks, that's what I had a problem with. I don't want gratuitous ass shots all of the time is what I'm saying.

I didn't mean to be offensive. I was just complaining that she was paraded around in a gratuitous fashion and it was annoying. I guess I'm not the target demographic.

It's totally cool to be like "hmm the way this actress was sexualized brought down the experience of this movie" like that's a legit criticism, but citing her "non existent ass" is not one. Like there's a different between what you said before and what you said in this comment I'm quoting, and the former isn't cool.

Ok, put it this way. There's a reason why Alexandra Daddario is put in a low cut shirt, right? I mean, we're adults, we know why she's wearing certain clothing.

My point, from a guy's POV, is if you're trying to show off the "assets" of a female (or even male, see Zac Efron) character, something should be there to look at.

There's nothing wrong with what I'm saying, because we all know why certain shots are in movies.

OK so what's your issue? Are you annoyed over the sexualization of a female character or annoyed that you didn't find the sexualization attractive? We all know why those shots are present but it doesn't mean we have to participate in that sexualization. Just because certain shots are created to titiliate the male gaze doesn't mean it's a free for all to rudely criticize the body of the character.

I was more annoyed as the sexualization of the character. It didn't belong in a movie like this. Remember Blue Crush? I think that was the name, about those surfer girls? That's what this felt like for the first act. Way too much slo-mo and gratuitous shots for my liking.

OK but like... do you get why people are uncomfortable with you commenting on her appearance in that way? Cause I'm super glad u were put off by the sexualization but yeah it was just the comment on her appearance that was uncalled for

I don't find her attractive, so all of those shots didn't draw me in like they may have drawn in others. So I was simply commenting on that.

I watched this with my wife, and there was a lot of "enough with her ass already." My wife pointed out that "of course she'd only zip it up to her cleavage."

I mean, again, there's a difference between your wife acknowledging the sexualization and being like wow this is old, enough already and negatively commenting on the size/flatness of her ass. I mean, whether or not you find her attractive has nothing to do with anything and idk why ur annoyed by the sexualization and then proceed to sexualize her anyway. It comes off like her sexualization not being attractive to you was a legitimate gripe about the movie when it's not.

But I feel like we're just talking in circles anyway lol

No, it's the fact that I'm annoyed at every single fucking moving forcing sex on me. Same with comedies being waaaaay over the top with graphic language and porn style sex talk.

Me being attracted to Lively has nothing to do with my irritation of sex in modern movies. I wouldn't have "liked it better" if I found her attractive...since that's what you're alluding to.

OK well I think I got confused because you were complaining about the sexualization and then proceeded to sexualize her anyway. That sends a mixed signal........ like u r making no sense
