well spoiler discussion is one reason why those threads exist, and so that this doesn't get clogged down by the latest release.

 

I can see the spoiler discussion, that's a good point. As for newest release, I would thing in order to keep the thread current, it'd be nice to talk about those things here.

No, it wouldn't, because then the thread would be overcome by it and a lot of people who aren't interested wouldn't feel like posting. That's a complaint that has come up.

I mean it's not like you are forbidden from posting general summary thoughts and whatnot here about it.. but more in-depth discussion should definitely go into specific threads.

 

Fair enough, just thought I'd ask. I'm good about just ignoring that kinda stuff but can understand how others may not be. Thanks for the response, wasn't trying to start anything!

 

The way I see it, general opinions on a game should go in here, where as in depth discussion, for example regarding builds and boring shit like that or lore or whatever, is better suited for specific threads

it's fine to mention any game in this thread (even if that game has its own thread), it's only an issue when a full page (or multiple page) discussion breaks out about a particular game, because not everyone cares about that game and it kinda derails the thread for a while. for example when Overwatch came out, that's all a bunch of people wanted to talk about, so an Overwatch thread was created so that that discussion could happen while people who weren't interested could continue on with random video game chatter here. the goal is just to create a better experience for everyone—people who want to have longer discussions about a particular game or franchise can do so, and people who aren't interested don't have to be bogged down by it. it's not something that's being strictly moderated or anything, so I just ask that everyone tries to be conscious of when a particular game starts taking up a full page and considers moving the discussion over to its own thread.

 

It would be nice to have links to various different game specific threads compiled somewhere.

I have zero desire to play For Honor, just doesn't look fun to me.

 

I enjoyed the closed beta and then in the open beta all I did was get my ass beat. so I lost interest real fast. It's still a cool idea.

Eh, nah. The Skyrim and Black Flag ones were good. And the GTA V one. But those were a long time ago. Which proves my point haha.

 

Honest Trailers are still consistently funny and typically spell out the problems most of these games/films have really well.
