Yeah I wasn't saying it was necessarily harmful, just found it amusing that you posted something you don't even believe haha (and only meant in this one case btw)

I think I'm out of unpopular opinions that will make everyone riot. My Nickelback and Kid Rock covering Elton Jon didn't do it so I had to go extreme. If anything it gets a conversation going :-)

it's tough to make people riot, you'll find at least someone who agrees with you here

for example, i thought saying brand new and blink 182 were bad but it wasn't as controversial as i thought

Yeah, I would assume that would result in a ban. Glad you are still with us :-)

    No Fun. Not Ever.

Wanna make a riot? Say that Morrissey joined Brand New on stage for a cover of a Blink 182 song and it fucking sucked.

An unpopular opinion that I believe is I don't get all the love for JEW. They are a fine band and their first few albums were important but for them to be getting the praise on here every time they release I record I don't get.

    Morrissey's better than that.

I honestly think a Blink cover would sound pretty bad coming from them two. Not because they are bad at all, but it'd sound so weird.

oh sorry, i'd rather listen to either of those bands for eternity than morrissey/the smiths

i don't think the smiths are bad by any means and i fully recognize their influence in indie rock

that being said, i would listen to just about anything in existence first

perhaps i should try to listen to one of their records all the way through again but i have an extremely difficult time separating his persona from the music

if i were to listen to one of their records from front to back, which would i choose?

The Queen is Dead or the selftitled would be my picks.

The Queen Is Dead is without doubt one of the best records ever.

Agreed on JEW, especially because I think this last album is really boring, but too a degree I think this also extends to yellowcard. Great band, but gotta cool the jets some.

That's the kind of praise I'm talking about lol. They are a good band though, but you'd think Thrice were in the conversation :-)

  19. JM95

    hmmm

I agree with the latter part; their recent output is VERY far from them at their best. I'm still kind of surprised the praise that Integrity Blues got on here given how short it is on... well anything really, especially big choruses/moments. As far as I'm concerned, bar the odd song, it's a million miles away from them at their best.

Having said that, Clarity, Bleed American and Futures is basically as good a three album run as there has ever been. Chase This Light is also very, very good. For those records alone, JEW deserve all the praise they get and more. On top of that, they are a band that is basically entirely reliant on their songwriting - people don't really follow them for the characters or the personalities, there's no gimmicks or anything like that, they don't get the big media push that other bands with half the talent get, they're not exactly models. They've got to where they are through their ability to write great songs and that deserves respect straight away, even if they hadn't had such an incredible run of albums at the start of the 00s.

I don't like them anywhere near as much as most people on this site do but they're still better than Thrice, ha.

  21. JM95

    hmmm

Yeah, there are at least three JEW albums and possibly four that are better than the best Thrice album.

For sure, when I said their first albums were important that's basically what I meant lol. I still like Bleed America and Futures a lot and think Chase This Light has some of their best songs, even if I don't like it all the way through.

    Whoa.

Chase This Light is their best album and def better than anything Thrice have done.

I like JEW alot but I disagree that they're that much better than Thrice. But I also have a very low tolerance for pop punk

I think Always Be and Let It Go are fantastic Jew songs, but songs like For Miles and Daedalus have more depth and creativity in them than anything JEW has ever done.
