Fallout 4 and Skyrim were great. I'll take all the fun yet slightly flawed crazy open-world Bethesda RPG's they give me.

all the side stuff in NBA2K17 is so cheesy but I love it so much.

  4. It's almost like you have to go into Bethesda and Bioware games with the exact opposite attitude. Bethesda is all about character progression and exploration, Bioware is all about story. I have yet to be disappointed by a Bethesda game.

Character progression felt awful in Fallout 4

Fallout 4, like so many current gen entries into big franchises that established themselves on the 306/PS3, felt like stagnation in the form of a game. It's good, but I wish it was more.

Kinda interesting that folks like Molyneux get so much crap for over promising, but Levine has almost completely avoided that....despite going way over budget, sizable delays, and all but shuttering the studio afterwards.

Is there any sort of written story about what happened with Bioshock Infinite? Or is it just as simple as overpromised, over budget and under delivered?

(For the record, I bloody loved the Infinite that we got). Still be interesting to read about.

I loved Theme Park, and Syndicate. Made owning a 3DO (seriously under rated system that had a nutty launch price) almost worth it by themselves. Fable games were enjoyable but not as replayable.

They redid a lot of stuff and a lot of the systems weren't working well. Oh well, the game was pretty good. Apparently Ken Levine (based on following him on Twitter and whatnot) would always second guess himself and after Bioshock Infinite was shipped, he wanted to leave Irrational while they continued on. However, Take Two wanted to keep him on board and they dissolved Irrational.

Hopefully whatever him and his new development team shows up at E3 this year!

I'm still a big fan of Bioshock Infinite. And the first Fable.

Levine escaped most of that from delivering great final products and not the mess that was Fable 3.

Tho he didn't totally escape that criticism, it was just a lot quieter.

I just hope Hangar 13 Games can make a good Bioshock (if they are in fact making it, Strauss Zelnick said in 2015 that they were taking over the franchise, but he said their Marin studio, which is just Hangar 13 now). I like Mafia III, but do not love it. Then again, that doesn't mean anything for Bioshock lol.

The difference being between the two is the end result, Bioshock Infinite was still a great game despite not looking like what was promised whereas something like Fable III was utterly different and devoid of any of the major promises chief among which was being leader and making choices along with that awful ending.

Looking forward to this though the fact it is split among several games worries me since I have no idea if those games are guaranteed to come out or they are entirely dependent on how well this first one performs.

I'll give you fable 3, but dude has been getting crap since Fable. Sure the first didn't deliver superfluous stuff like remembering plant lives, but it was a decent approximation of the original pitch.

I like Fable 3, I really don't see the problem, it seemed to be a regular Fable game to me. I give you the ending (Bioshok Infinite also had a dumb ending imo), but the world building was once again great.
