I put those three plus Phoenix on my to-do list for tomorrow. Super excited to revisit his albums instead of just random songs. And yeah, that's a good description of the Innocent Age. Definitely the best showcase of his ability.

 

Phoenix and Captured Angel have always struck me as mirror-image in-between albums. Phoenix has all the polish and craft, but the songs feel a little less developed than the records around it (excluding the title track and "Along the Road", obviously). Meanwhile Captured Angel has a fistful of his career-best material ("Next Time", "The Last Nail", "These Days", "Old Tennessee") but the recordings are lifeless and underproduced.

I was under the impression that Menos El Oso was the consensus favorite haha. Either that or people had a soft spot for Highly Refined Pirates.

Dunno if this is actually an unpopular opinion but since I rarely ever hear opinions on this: Everything You Want by Vertical Horizon is a damn good pop rock album.

 

When someone uses the term "yacht rock" particularly as a pejorative, I immediately assume they are a pretentious fuck and I'm almost guaranteed to discount their musical opinions.

 

"You're a God" was a Grest tune.
I can't remember the other songs right now but I loved that album back then. Been awhile since I've spun it.

 

I thoroughly enjoy the song My House by Flo Rida.

It makes me feel gewd.

I don't believe that at all and not even a fan of WS. Just wanted to see a reaction. I do agree with @zmtr that she fits their style though.
