    No, I can't speak to this play specifically, but I just wanted to make it clear that late whistles and whatnot are not really a bad thing or incorrect reffing. Same for holding a whistle to see if a shot goes in on light contact as well. It's very possible the refs got it wrong though. Lots of people get upset about a "late" whistle and I don't think most people realize that is actually the correct technique (not saying you are one of them).
