Directly from Southern Lord actually, their label, who I learned is actually helping distribute Darkest Hour's newest album as well

 

I pre-order the vinyl on Amazon because I had some credit there. It'd be nice to get it earlier, but Amazon is usually a stickler for only shipping things around the release date.

 

Guessing they are starting to ship pre-orders since the album already leaked anyway.

Listened to one of the songs from the EP the other day. Not normally my thing, but it's pretty good!

XIBALBA's New EP Diablo, Con Amor… Adios Will Destroy Your Speakers - Metal Injection

 

This is what the new Cult of Luna live DVD, Years in a Day, looks like (or the artwork, obviously). It was announced ages ago, but didn't see it mentioned in here. Their old live DVD, Fire was Born, was so ridiculously good. I finally got to see them last year, and it was beyond my wildest expectations.

EDIT: If you're in the US, and close to the Julie Christmas tour this summer, GO.

much as I like Mariner, I do hope they record a full length sometime sooner than later without any kind of outside collaboration. I'd love to catch them live but there's no way in hell they'll be anywhere near me ha.

 

Oh boy, Glenn Fricker. I have such a complicated relationship with this guy's content. On the one hand, he says some genuinely hilarious things sometimes. On the other hand, dude is a total asshat, of the worst variety. The kind of asshat that equates their asshattery to "being real". And somehow still buys into that at his age. He boggles my mind, really.

 

I recently discovered the band Ghost Brigade. So many influences ranging from Tool, APC, Neurosis, Mouth of the Architect and Katakylsm(to name a few).

Periphery is such an amazing band. A band that reminds me a lot of them is the band Earthists, from Japan, that have a record coming out soon on Tragic Hero. It is amazing from what I have heard so far.

 

I have tried so hard to get into them but I just can't do it.

 

Already got my ticket. I'm excited.

 

They're not for everyone. I'll be the first to admit that. However, they're a band that's moving the bar forward on extreme moreso than anyone else at the moment. Both of their releases from last year (Amber Mote and the collab with the Body) were absolutely exceptional. The only other release I'm probably more excited for this year than Trumpeting Ecstasy is Captain, We're Sinking's new LP.
