how does that account for the 15% of albums we like that we both like, HUH. Something about that is mathematically wrong, so YEAH

It's never a waste of time to listen to something. Worst case scenario and you hate it, at least you have an informed opinion.

i'd just much rather listen to things that i'll likely enjoy more, if we had infinite time i'd listen to it but we don't, i'd much rather spend the time listening to an old record that i haven't listened to yet or discover a band i've been meaning to listen to or listen to one of my favorites. i'm not the kind of person who likes submitting myself to listening to a bad maroon 5 album (looking at you @Craig Manning!!!!!!) or a blink-182 record (looking at you @chorus!!!)

obviously it's early to tell with island radio, but these are the only three songs i consistently skip in his entire discography (except not always rainy girl)

Now, the best song he's ever written (that doesn't start with a 'K')...

"Rainy Girl" is one of the most emotionally affecting song's he's ever done, imo.

I would kill for him to play or record the songs he did for Smash himself.

Also I love See Her On The Weekend!

I didn't dislike Brooklyn as much just now as I did the first time I heard it, so I may come around to it. So Close is definitely a jam.

To be fair, I'm not sorry I listened to that Maroon 5 album. It was awful, but it was also fascinating in its badness. I also used to be a fan of theirs, so I'll at least give a cursory listen to anything they put out. Similar to Train, whose latest album is also a fascinating trainwreck (pun intended).

Man, that Train album is absolutely atrocious. I've never been a huge fan of theirs, but I was appalled at how bad it was.

Train wrote a pop song by ripping off the hook of "Heart and Soul." I just couldn't help myself.

It was incredible how bad it was. I've never been a huge fan of theirs either, but could usually count on them for a few decent songs a record. A few albums ago, they had a bunch of solid co-writes with Butch Walker and a great duet with Ashley Monroe. But this was just next-level awful.

does the melody in the verses on Fire Escape remind anyone else of Say Anything's Do Better?

I love Brooklyn, don't love Island Radio, but overall I really like the album. I think it's a tiny bit stronger than the first one. Definitely some of his better lyrics, at least in one man's opinion

According to HitsDailyDouble this debuted at #34.

Damn, would've expected a little better than that.

    all we have is time

That's sales + streaming. It debuted at 15 on the album sales chart with 14,622.

Probably would've been higher if it wasn't Grammy week

Going through for my first time. Brooklyn was ok, but wow, that hook on So Close. That melody is classic Andrew wrapped in current pop. Touche. So far I am enjoying this much more than I expected. This and the Encore podcast are really punching me in the face to remind me how much I enjoy Andrew's music.
