That's how I am with most " scene" bands lol

I don't know if I could still get behind this statement but it was definitely true at the time. I listened to a lot of P.O.D. (Southtown is still a banger) and Taproot (anyone remember them?) as well. Interestingly enough I never thought Korn was good, so maybe I was slightly smarter than I thought.

    You want some recommendations?

Like Chevelle and P Roach, I think they have changed their style enough to move beyond that genre but yeah, if they are in the running I agree they are the best. Honestly out of all the bands I grew up with that are still going, LP, Sevendust and Deftones are the ones that have a perfect track record release wise.

Ha, to be fair I haven't listened to a lot of nu metal, but I still think LP is great. I never liked Korn at all either.

My dad still uses a Walkman. This was my first music listening device, it came preloaded with a Flyleaf music video so I listened to that song about a million times

Oh yeah for sure, just meant in terms of a band that started out playing nu metal, they've moved well beyond the genre.

My second after Green Day. I don't think I played any album in middle school more than Hybrid Theory

i liked hybrid theory a lot but Meteora is what did it for me. i can't imagine how many times i restarted the CD after Don't Stay bc i loved the intro so much.

Rise Against were my first favorite band. I remember having to rifle through the CD section in Walmart looking for the clean version of The Sufferer and the Witness because my mom wouldn't let me get the explicit version haha. They were also my first band shirt, I had one with the Siren Song album art on the front.

Whoa, a lot to unpack. P.O.D. is still awesome and their last few albums have surprisingly been really good. I think not too long ago on here we went over how awesome Taproot is (Blue Sky Research!) and KoRn's first 5 albums were great, and I had called it a day on them after a few duds until their latest one. They are back baby!

haha, a great band. Sad they didn't last more than a few albums.

For sure, Dookie, Nimrod and Warning all were played endlessly for me.

I played the shit out of Nimrod and AI, I wouldn't be surprised if those were still the two records I've listened to most

Oh, I listened to AI endlessly too, but due to my age I wasn't in HS when it came out so I didn't count it as a "growing up with" album.

Well damn, its cool you are into cool music. I've always been curious how the younger generations get into rock and heavy music since it's not in the top 40 or all over the radio like it use to be. I remember going to a Day to Remember show and being shocked how many highschool kids where there, and I know St Louis radio doesn't play them at all.

All this talk of nu metal reminded me of the most underrated nu metal band of all time, Nonpoint

Non Point was super good. Saw them open for Sevendust a few years back and they still sounded good. Sevendust is the most underrated though.

Heh, well when AI came out it was obviously huge, and I don't think I'd ever heard of the band but my classmates being super into it made me check out their discog. I don't think I'd heard of LP before sixth grade either but I heard of them from peers as well and was hooked the first time I listened to HT.

Late to the party, but that conversation about a bracket of classic rock songs almost gave me an aneurysm.

Skindred are incredibly fun live. I still find it odd that Benji ended up as a guest on Soulfly's debut though as dub war were never massive and it happened before Skindred were a thing.

Skindred is pretty awesome. I never got the chance to see them live though.

Lol there really wasn't a conversation but don't pretend those songs are amazing.
