Nice! I'm sure you'll like them. I have mine since Sunday and I already love them!

I wasn't originally sold on them until people in here started talking about how great they are and that's when I started noticing how often I could actually use some of the features they offer. Then I wanted them really bad but the wait seemed daunting so when I read that Best Buy was shipping in 3 days or less I went for it. I can't wait!

Bought my first HomeKit enabled device yesterday. I had to replace the light switch in the bedroom after it died on me, so I decided to try out one of the HomeKit ones ... I'm pretty fucking impressed. (I had tried one of those "WeMo" plug switches a few years back because I wanted to turn off the lights from bed, and it was slow, sluggish, a bad app, and would take more time to connect than it would to just get out of bed, so I ended up unplugging it and never use it.)

The Lutron Caseta is the opposite. It's fast as hell, works with Siri and HomeKit, and was really easy to install. Sitting in bed and saying "hey siri, turn off the bedroom lights" and they shut off almost immediately -- very little delay. I like them so much I want to put them everywhere (but don't have the extra cash to buy more yet). The HomeKit app isn't great, but it was easy to invite Hannah in on and give her access to the lights, and it seems to work and, again, is very fast. I'm sold with the first night of use.

It was the same thing for me. I wasn't planning on buying them since I've never really liked the Earpods and I thought it would never stay in my ears. Then I saw Jason and everyone else saying how much they loved them and it made me want them really bad haha. You realize that cords are the big reason why headphones fall off of your ears in the first place.

You sir are about to take a plunge down an addicting rabbit hole. I bought a Philips Hue smart lightbulb set cause I had some extra Amazon gift card money to burn, lets just say my whole apartment is now set up with smart light bulbs. I've got my lights turning on automatically when I get home, a motion sensor in my bathroom to turn on very dim in the middle of the night, etc etc. It's addicting and totally fun to mess around with.

I just got the hue bulbs a couple weeks ago. They're a blast to play with and it's so nice being able to walk into the room with my hands full and simply say "hey Siri turn on the lights".

  7. Damn you both. Hah. Yeah I've already found myself walking in with laundry and being like "ok, this is great" — the moment I can save up a little more to splurge I'm definitely thinking the rest of the place needs this too. I can think of all kinds of uses. It finally feels like it's all fast enough, and it works as well as a regular switch, and it adds so much value.

Does anyone have an Alexa? I've thought about getting one of those too, but haven't had a real reason to yet, but I'm leaning toward thinking about it a little harder if I ended up doing more of my lights. I'm such a sucker for technology and cool things like this. But, even Hannah was sold when I was like "we could sit down for a movie and say 'set movie lights' and the entire condo could dim and turn off everything without us needing to even get up.

(And then become self-aware and murder us in our sleep.)

I got Alexa for christmas which was like the same week that the murder case was in the news, so that wasn't very reassuring. Anyways, I don't have the resources to automate significant parts of my apartment so I don't use it much, just an alarm/timer when I remember that it's a thing that I own.

Yeah I have the smaller Echo dot, it's one of the reasons I decided to try out the Philips bulbs. And yes it's pretty sweet. I literally just told my echo to turn on my movie setting a few minutes ago. They can do a lot of cool shit. I have a "routine" set to run every weekday night at 10:30 pm where it flashes my lights to remind me to go to my bedroom, then it flips on my hallway, bathroom, and bedroom light, and then sets my living room lights to gradually dim off over a 5 minute period.

Airpods came and I'm definitely going to love them. I don't have a problem keeping them in but then again I never really had that problem with earpods either. Everything about them is really smooth especially connecting them to my phone.

Also, my synesthesia really likes the sound it makes when closing the charging case.

If I could just forget it

Anyone have an issue with adding ssh keys to keychain after upgrading to Sierra? I was already using rsa keys so I know that's not the issue. I've scoured the internet looking for a solution but nothing seems to work for me. I've:

-added "UseKeyChain yes" and "AddKeysToAgent yes" to my ssh config file host profiles
-attempted to add keys manually using ssh-add -K <key>, however running ssh-add -l returns "The agent has no identities."

    Ugh.

My new music playlist is hot garbage. Just a bunch of super obnoxious pop/punk. I went back in and changed up some of the genre's and music that I like. Should that fix that? None of that was in there in the first place so I'm not sure why that's what the playlist was week after week.

That's crazy. I have quite a bit of blink, NFG, and other staples from that time, but I feel like my library is more singer-songwriter, folky, americana'ish... and that playlist certainly doesn't reflect that. Maybe I've got stuff just sitting out there that I don't listen to anymore.

It's been like this the last couple of weekly updates and no matter how many songs I dislike, it's all pretty similar from week to week. Maybe these "Artists you like" refresh will help too.

Hm, my New Music Playlist is consistently the same genres (or if i've been listening to a leak the same songs sometimes) of what I've been listening to all week. This week i've got Menzingers, Andrew McMahon, Cloud Nothings, LTJ, and more in there with some unknown stuff that sounds really similar to the rest.

Oh man, yeah mine is nothing close to what I listen to on a regular basis. Even the pop/punk stuff in my library (which doesnt take a play count advantage over the other stuff) isn't this obnoxious. Today was especially bad.

On the regular I listen to Ryan Adams, Dave Hause, Brian Fallon, Conor Oberst, Isbell, Justin Townes Earl, and then all of their affiliated acts as well. Stuff like that. Just flipping through my library now and there definitely isn't a large amount of albums that I would consider pop/punk.

    Help.

Start hitting the love button on things you like more nowadays. Apparently that will eventually even it out a bit.

For the record my discovery playlist is really good and I got about 10 from it this week that i really enjoyed.

No. I don't use Match at all but I do run AM on my iPad mini which is hooked up to my record player and sound system. I have the Apple Music family plan, but my wife's library is totally separate and she wouldn't listen to that anyways.

The thing about my iPad Mini is that it doesn't update anymore, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it? At home it plays music for HOURS on end if I'm not spinning a record. But again, that music isn't even close to what's coming up in my New Music List (on my phone.) And typically on my phone I'm playing what I mentioned earlier.

I'll also note, my Favorites list is actually pretty spot on usually. I can usually listen to that and rarely skip anything.

Ah. Maybe I'll make more of an effort for that. I never really hit the love button for anything.

  23. Bought a new 2015 Macbook Pro yesterday after several years away from the fold. I had one of the very very last model of white non-Pro Macbooks they ever made from 2010-2014 and have suffered through with a PC since then. Man I forgot what I was missing!

The new Macbook Pros from last year with the touch bar or whatever it's called looked super sweet but I just couldn't justify the extra couple hundred right now. Happy with what I got!

would love to get a Plex media server set-up on a Mac Mini one day. keeping my (old as hell) Macbook open and awake is frustrating, even when I was running an app that would keep it awake with the lid closed.

    Here's a new one.

    I'm on 10.3 beta 2, iphone 7 plus.

I have this little aux/lightning adapter, which can be purchased here. It works perfectly fine up until recently when I plugged it in, put in the AUX cable for my car (bluetooth adapter crapped out) and I got a notification that said "Accessory not supported to Apple" and it immediately stopped working. No matter what I did I couldn't get it to work again.

Is this something new? Because on iOS 10, I've never had this issue up until today.
