Well, no, I don't think so, A Kind of Magic was like a default soundtrack if I recall correctly (the movie was before my time). The thing with Queen is that were so versatile. Rock, elements of heavy metal, 80's pop, synths, they really did it all. Like you said, I think they just have so many songs that it gets lost in the shuffle. There really wasn't a band like them at all.

Oops, that you did! They have such a long list. Pretty much all of their first 3, then most of the rest.

Very True. If Princes was the first song you heard, you would think they were a harder rock band for sure. And if you heard Bicycle first.....well, I don't know what you'd think lol

I did say that Papa Roach was better than Radio Head, so I'll let that one slide.

But it takes two guitar players in 3DG to barely be able to play something the guitarist in Chevelle can play while singing.

i always really liked Adam's voice in TDG, and they wrote consistently catchy stuff. everything chevelle wrote after this type of thinking did nothing for me

I don't really care about instrumental talent at all, 3DG write much better songs (or at least, used to - last couple albums haven't been good)

Nah. Chevelle's lyrics are way better, and the riffs/grooves aren't even on the same planet

Well they lost their singer and got someone who IMO can't really sing, so yeah their last 2 albums have been pretty bad.

If Chevelle only had songs like The Red, which sounds really simple like a 3DG song, I'd give you that but man Chevelle writes some really compelling songs for a 3 piece.

I totally forgot about the singer change, that's how much attention I've been paying to them, haha. I still really like One-X and Life Starts Now, though. And idk I've never been engaged by any Chevelle material whatsoever

And don't get me wrong, I like the first two 3DG albums a lot and even a few off their 3rd. Its just no contest.

I hate Crossfade lol. I remember they opened up for Chevelle one of the first times I saw them and was not a fan :tear:

Crossfade's 3rd album was sick. I remember the closing track was like this 10 minute prog-metal guitar soloing track and I thought it was the greatest shit at the time. Their least popular album by a good margin though

i remember seeing a commercial for the album and thinking so cold was the most badass song i'd ever heard. bought that real quickly and wasn't disappointed.

i don't visit this thread often but nu metal/radio rock was my gateway to angry music. chevelle vs TDG dug up a lot of bus rides.

Yeah, same. Found Linkin Park and Rise Against on Youtube on the same fateful day and it was love at first listen. Somewhere along the line there I picked up like, Norma Jean or something and that was heaviest music I could ever comprehend anyone making

True, I wasn't into screaming at first so bands like Chevelle and Story of the Year using it sparingly were like a gateway into truly heavy stuff.

Man, back in my day we didn't even have Youtube and I had to listen to my cds on the bus with my Walkman and hope we didn't go over a bump and make my disc skip :-)

Is it Linkin Park time again yet? Probably the best nu metal band.

Crossfade is one of those bands you don't even need to hear a single second of the song. You just know they are douchemetal to the core by the name alone.
