A lot more impressive second listen. "Dead Man's Dollar" may be one of my favourite tracks he's written.

    all we have is time

Annnddd he continues his 15 year streak of never releasing a bad record.

This one is truly something special.. just wow.

I should have had more faith in him. The sequencing makes the songs I was meh on make more sense. This is really good. "Dead Man's Dollar" and "Love and Great Buildings" are skyscrapers

That said, this seems unlikely touch his top tier of albums mostly because there doesn't seem to be the same emotional depth as the s/t or THP or EIT. At least at first glance. Maybe my feelings will evolve.

Still a second tier Andrew album is better than the majority of other artists can do with their opus

I was just thinking that. How the hell as a label do you even choose which song to push off an album like this? There are quite a few opportunities for smashes.. it would suck if they made the wrong decisions and blew huge opportunities. So much pressure haha.

Will have to check out the review.. thanks!

Listening to the first time this morning. I am liking this album a lot more so far than his self titled release!

    Things have changed.

"Island Radio" is easily my least favorite Andrew song since LTTW, but the rest of this oscillates from good to really great.

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

I started a listen this morning on my way to work, and Brooklyn immediately turned me off from this album. I'm obviously going to check out the rest later today, but I was not feeling that, it's good to hear it's one of the worst songs on the album.

'Brooklyn, you're killing me' is a tremendous album opener

I'm about halfway through and really enjoying it. My main problem is that I need to stop listening to subsequent singles that are released after the initial one. Kind of ruins the experience when I've heard almost half the album.

I love it, but I knew that I would. I wish he didn't release so many songs beforehand because I listened to them to death (especially Fire Escape). The same thing happened with "Brother's Blood" by Kevin Devine because he released over half the album as demos.

Birthday Song is my favorite so far.

The cover art and album title are so bad.

I wonder if the title is a deliberate connection to the Lugosi movie.

    Brooklyn is horrible.

All the other songs are pretty good!

The emotional resonance for me creeps in more and more as the album goes. The last few songs are very much about his family and being away from them when he's away on the road, which hits pretty hard IMO. It didn't hit me as immediately as Everything in Transit or The Glass Passenger though.

It already seems like they didn't push "Fire Escape" right, but we'll see.

Fire Escape is doing okay on the Alternative charts- holding steady at #12. Maybe with release week they will give it a bit more of a push.

Cannot get into this at all. Sounds like every other generic pop filler that plays everywhere. Very little emotional depth too save for one or two songs.

A lot of the verses are tolerable, but most of the choruses on this record are extremely difficult for me to listen to.

can we collectively stop using the term "cringe worthy"?

I'm surprised @Jason Tate hasn't created a filter for the term "cringe worthy" in the same way he did for Anthony Ronald McDonald.
