Just listened to the new Suicide Silence to find out what all the hooplah is about. Holy crap its bad

 

Unpopular opinion: new Suicide Silence is palatable at best and tolerable at worst. I have no strong opinions on it either way except that the hate for it is ten times more annoying than the new stuff ever was. Jesus man. Some of these people are acting like Eddie Hermida broke into their homes, shat on their carpet, kicked their dog, stole their girlfriend and slashed their tires.

 

New mastodon songs are both great

 

New Suicide Silence is bad unbelievably bad.

Suicide Silence have always been dogshit but yeah the new song is a new level of garbage.

 

If you look at their last album, even though it still had some kickass songs on it like Sacred Words and stuff, the hate for it was huge, and some of it is just unacceptance of Eddie Hermida. They all want Mitch back. I hope eventually Eddie says "fuck this, you don't want me then fine" and goes back to ASP full time

 

Eddie just needs to go back to ASP full time. ASP was always far superior to me.

Woah. That's gotta be terrifying for his ex-wife and the children. So he served less than 3 years of a 6-year sentence. Good behavior?

Also, did Wovenwar fail or become unsustainable? Lynch said they're struggling hard.

 

I don't know about that; they came out with their 2nd album not too long ago, and appear to have regular tours now. Yeah nowhere near AILD levels yet, but I would doubt they're struggling on the level he alludes to.

 

I didn't keep up with the new band but always thought they were talented dudes. And on top of that, apparently Lambesis has a record deal and a book deal? Damn..

 

Haha, yeah I don't know how that happened. I could understand a publisher wanting to get him for a book deal, but why would anybody take him up on a record deal? He's going to be universally hated, rendering the prospects for album sales pretty slim

 

Ya the record deal makes no sense, maybe another Austrian Death Machine project? Can't imagine enough people supporting this dude. Even the book deal doesn't seem viable, considering he's scum and the book will most likely try to paint a sympathetic portrait of him.

 

Late night hot takes based on the last page or so of discussion:

-Tomb Mold is rad. Thanks for linking to them.

-Suicide Silence has always sucked regardless of who is their vocalist.

-Tech death like hour of penance bores me now.

-I don't hate the idea of As I Lay Dying reuniting in some form because Wovenwar has been incredibly underwhelming but I can't bring myself to support them financially in any way if it does happen.

Never really dove into tech death before, but I'm working on expanding my musical horizons within metal and beyond, so I checked out that Hour of Penance record and dug it.

 

IMO Awaken was such an amazing album. So bummed they didn't continue from there, I doubt whatever Tim does next wont be as good.
