I actually kinda dig that scene. What bugged me about Cap 2 was the whole "insert the three discs into the three hellicarriers to solve the plot!" climax

I think she has arguably had the most character growth throughout the franchise. In IM2 she is just an instrument of SHIELD to manipulate Tony. In The Avengers she is still sort of a company woman but towards the end when they get Hawkeye back she transitions to a hero. In regards to Loki she tells Hawkeye "we have to stop him!" as though she is realizing her duty to her fellow man.

I think Winter Soldier sees her rediscovering her humanity. She sheds the skin of the assassin through her friendship with Cap and becomes the hero.

AOU really just takes that humanity to it's next logical step, the need for companionship (romantic or otherwise).

I am interested to see how she reacts to the events of Civil War. In AOU she finds love and that is ripped away from her, so she joins Cap in forming a new team of Avengers, but that is going to get ripped away from her too.

MCU movies have those kinds of deus ex machinas peppered throughout them. Sometimes they are passable and sometimes they aren't. I think this is one of those cringey ones.

So the advanced screenings for the media happened, and a lot of people i trust love it.

    Avacado: Green Gold.

Same here. Mike Ryan who now writes for Uproxx basically said this is his favorite MCU flick. Had some encouraging things to say about Spidey's involvement as well.

In both the comics and the films, I like Steve Rogers as a character far more than Tony Stark.

In the Civil War comic and possibly this film, I'm pretty easily on Tony's side of the debate.

While I think the Civil War comic's premise is better than its execution, I've always loved the ending when Cap sees the destruction and the civilians holding him back, and then surrenders. Obviously this film, like most comic book films, is dramatically different from the source material, but I really, REALLY want them to find a way to recreate that moment in at least some capacity.

I like Tony much better as a character and I always felt like the audience was supposed to be on Cap's side

Sounds perfect. Despite not really liking the suit I'm excited for Spider Man, I feel like this is the best way to bring him into the MCU.

It's nice to see the Peter Parker/Spider-man balance is the other way round for once. Usually we get like 70% Peter Parker and 30% Spider-man, haha.

No matter how much I like him, this Spider-Man in this film will likely always fall behind Miles Morales and Andrew Garfield in my list of approaches I would have liked to see in the MCU. Oh well. I'd rather hear more about Black Panther, but I guess the public is understandably more interested in the MCU's Spidey debut.

I think I'mma rewatch Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron tonight. First time I've rewatched a Marvel film other than Avengers or Guardians.

    I do not exist.

I cannot wait for this film and i'm even more excited by the fact that I managed to convince my fiancee to watch the first two Captain America films in consecutive days. (She doesn't usually like similar films to me). Hoping that this will be the first film we see after getting married in May, haha!

Yeah, registering super heroes makes waaay more sense than not. But Stark is such an ass in the comics.
