Just began Eye of the World by Robert Jordan. Looking forward to it, though a 14 book saga is rather daunting.

I'm a little wary of spoilers because I literally know nothing about the story. But maybe I'll pop in there!

I've gotten sort of lenient with my use of spoilers since it was just me and Garrett talking about it, but I believe I spoil tagged the big stuff. Just don't look at past posts and I'll do better in the future just in case, haha.

Finished reading my advanced copy of Spoke: Images and Stories from the 1980s Washington, DC Punk Scene compiled by Scott Crawford today and then started reading On Bowie by Rob Sheffield. Should have a review of the former going up on the site here if Jason digs it!

is that the Alan Moore affair? has the potential of being either a mess or total genius, no in-betweens

I know this is probably a shitty opinion but that's what I'm known for.

Picked up a couple James Patterson books from the library, looking forward to reading them

I stand by Along Came a Spider, Sunday's at Tiffanys and Kiss the Girls. Super interesting, quick read. First to Die was a lot of fun too.

In the past month I've read Cat's Cradle, Mother Night, Breakfast of Champions, and The Sirens of Titan. I've really loved them all. I'm starting God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater tomorrow. I wish I'd delved into Vonnegut earlier.

Haven't read any of those. I picked up The Murder House and a collection of a handful of the Bookshots he recently released.

I love that his chapters are so short as most of my reading time is during my lunch break so I like quick reads like these should be.

How do people in here prefer reading, physical or e-book?

I like both, but I'm running out of shelf space so ebooks are nice if it's not something I insist on having a hard copy of. I probably have like 100 books on my Kindle right now haha.

I've had a hankering for just reading a physical book lately instead of digital so I checked out a couple actual books from the library. Have had NOS4A2 on Kindle for a couple of years and never started it but want to do I grabbed that too so it'll give me incentive to do so.

Just curious if anybody was similar in that regard haha

Oh I've been using the library a lot lately too, just mostly for comics. I usually prefer physical but when there's Kindle deals I'll grab those. I rarely buy like brand new books on Kindle because they seem a tad overpriced for just being a file. And sometimes they're more than the physical books anyway.

there isn't a proper word for the setting sun.

Physical books all the way. I'll sell my furniture before I go e-books.

I should get on that. I hate dust jackets.

  24. awakeohsleeper

    I do not exist.

Shelf space is a key factor for me too. I thought I'd never get into the ebook innovation a few years back when Kindles started getting popular but it's been a lifesaver for me in terms of reading and house space!

I do love the physical though!

Kindle while traveling, hard copy while at home/on the beach, audiobook in the car/gym.

But I typically find questionable PDF copies of books I already own for my Kindle. Rarely ever buy ebooks, unless it's a fantastic deal.
