Hm, I seem to be in the minority in here regarding living with parents. But I understand her reservations. Personally, I would be uncomfortable living with my parents with my significant other and it wouldn't ever feel like i was "living with" my significant other. I don't know, that's just my opinion. I hope it works out, though!

 

I regret my last "relationship". I keep finding things out about the guy that make me glad things ended when they did. I feel stupid for getting involved. I guess he even tries to hit on every new girl that comes along (I happened to be one of them), like he was so desperate to find someone to "spend the rest of his life with", in which he posted about after we were "over". Now I wonder of all the things he said to me were true. He would even try to get me to have sex with him like a month after we met. After I told him it was too soon (I didn't want any regrets and glad I never gave in!), he would keep trying and whine when I would say no. Looking back, everything starts to add up and make sense to things I hear about him.

 

When I wake up and see her sleeping next to me every morning my heart literally melts I'm such a fucking sap for this but I swear I've never seen anything as beautiful as this woman

 

I find myself looking for albums about domestic bliss and happy relationships now, because I have no idea how to write about being happy.

 

Somehow my beats are still turning out dark and creepy or sad so I'm fine hahaha

 

I don't know if I could make an upbeat hip hop beat that sounds good if I tried. I applaud those that do

 

Haha. I need lots of "living in the country"-era McCartney and 20/20 Timberlake.

 

I need to study the production on some of the more sunny and colorful young thug songs, like constantly hating or wyclef jean. I've just never learned how to mad hip hop beats using majorr keys and playful colorful synths. It's always been an exercise in melancholy or scary sounding stuff for me

 

I'd say it might be worth listening to Lazerbeak a bit (thinking of "Sweat Set" in particular) or maybe Emancipator. I feel like those guys manage uplift nicely.

Emancipator is more trip hop but yeah I dig him a lot. I've only heard a few of lazerbeaks instrumental tunes so I'll check him out more

 

Yeah Emancipator is outside your usual lane, but I feel like that tends to be where the coolest ideas come from. When I hear some cool thing on a country song and Bobby and I figure out how to somehow use that influence in the Hailey sound, etc.

 

Dude I can't, for the life of me, write a happy tune. Even when I'm feeling on top of the world everything I churn out is dark. I've tried to write happy music and it just felt so inauthentic so, you're not alone haha.

 

I write happy music pretty well and then turn it more dark because it's fun

 

Yeah, I like happier sounding music combined with sad/melancholy/darker lyrics.

That's part of the reason I like Third Eye Blind so much.

 

Xiu Xiu is really good at taking really happy melodies/chord progressions and making them sound way darker than they are

 

Anyway I'll quit diverting the topic my relationship life is great

 

We talked on the phone last night and I told her that I needed to go no contact for a while. This is going to be hard, but definitely for the best.

Anyways I naturally write bright and bouncy songs with horribly bleak lyrics, haha. And I'll probably be writing a lot more inspired by my current situation :/

 

Now I'm feeling even more like the only one without creative/ musical talent here
