New Paper Girls was good. I'm excited to see where this new arc goes knowing I'll probably be just as confused when it ends as I am now. Those last few pages were very intriguing. Also Cliff liked my tweet about Paper Girls today so I'm a happy camper.

 

Nightwing Bludhaven arc was not good. I don't know if you needed information from previous Nightwing runs or it was just presented poorly, but either way I was completely bored.

Green Arrow and Supes are great this week though.

 

I think im going to catch up on Batman. Is there any reason to read the monster crossover story or could i safely pick it back up at I Am Suicide?

You can safely pick it up, though I would say a reason to read it is it's good, haha. It seems that the aftermath is somewhat important for the upcoming Batwoman story and a few Detective stories, but that's just a bit of information you can figure out in context. I'd rec reading it though, it's fun.

 

Best Justice League issue yet this run. Pretty much a bottle issue completely about the teams inner dynamics, and some really interesting discussion about the new Superman.

 

Picked up Lois and Clark yesterday. Its about as enjoyable as the first trade of Rebirth. Its a bummer that you are expected to have read everything DC has ever done to fully grasp what is happening. The Convergence and Crisis stuff is pretty darn confusing to me, and I've read Crisis. lol

 

As someone fine with just accepting multiversal shenanigans, I find your reactions really fascinating. Based on your Superman comments, you probably wouldn't like Hickman's Fantastic Four or Avengers, or Morrison's Multiversity, lol.

 

I just get bothered that everything is part of this huge, long running story. New 52 was so refreshing for the opposite reason. It's why the transition to Image books was so easy for me. It's also the reason I won't read Valiant other than Faith.

 

Reading Aquaman Rebirth Vol 1 and it's enjoyable but it just seems like a retelling of Geoff Johns' run from N52

 

Just read "The Few"... Didn't really care for it story wise. Seems like a very overdone premise.

 

It didn't have a whole lot in terms of new story, but definitely set up some stuff going forward. I thought it was pretty vanilla.

 

I enjoyed the Atlantis Vs US stuff and Mera being the ultimate bad ass.

 

I love Mera so much.

 

Holy crap I loved Daytripper, been thinking about it since I finished it last night. I can tell it will be something I read again and again.

 

Jumped on Kill or Be Killed when Forbidden Planet in NYC had a 40% Image sale for their 25th anniversary on Wednesday. I can't stop reading it but I'm trying to pace myself. Also picked up the first trade of Saga, which I read when the issues were coming out but fell off so it'll be good to go back and forth between the two.

Any recommendations of more Brubaker/Phillips/Breitweiser or similar noir? I'm definitely going to pick up Fatale.

 

Brubaker and Phillips did CRIMINAL, which is great.

I'd also recommend SCALPED by Jason Aaron and RM Guera.

Darwyn Cooke's PARKER adaptations are also really awesome.

 

I haven't started it yet (its on the top of my pile) but people will not stop talking about how good Gotham Central is.

I would suggest Scarlet since it is kinda in that vein.

 

Thanks! Loved Jason Aaron with Gorr the God Butcher storyline so I'm sold on that. And I always need more Darwyn Cooke in my life! The New Frontier is my favorite JL story.

 

American Vampire Vol. 1 was a good read. I wish my friend had more than just the first one for me to borrow haha.

On another note, read Darth Maul #1 and can't say enough about how much I've enjoyed the recent Star Wars titles.

 

Any recs for someone who absolutely loooves Old Man Logan and hasn't read much Marvel?

 

You mean Wolverine stories, or stories with a similar tone, or what?

 

Open to both, if said Wolverine story is dark and violent I'm definitely interested. I've already peaked at a few of the ones you posted as an example for movie recs awhile ago. It's also nice that it doesn't take place in the main universe with all the Civil war stuff going on that I don't yet understand. I'd be interested in some X men stories too, I've never loved the movie universe but I'm sure I'd find stuff to love in the comics.

 

Don't really know much Wolverine, but Max Bemis and Michael Walsh's Worst X-Man Ever went from being hysterical to really dark quickly. It's a five-issue mini out of continuity so it's super accessible and an easy read!

 

I haven't read the new one yet, but if you're talking about the original Old Man Logan, all of Millar's Marvel stuff is pretty great. Civil War, The Ultimates, Ultimate X-Men.

In terms of general dark/violent stuff in the Marvel universe, Punisher has had a ton of great writers over the years. Pretty much anything from the last decade (Ennis, Aaron, Remender, Rucka) is a safe bet. I'm a little behind myself, so I don't know about the last couple writers on it.
