I've finally settled on some coffee pods I'm happy with. They have these in trial size at Walmart and it's really good

 

Chase is right, the longer you roast coffee to get it darker the less caffeine it has in it. The flavors of darker coffee beans tend to be smokier and richer whereas lighter coffee beans can be floral and acidic.

No, people who know their coffee usually go for lighter roasts. Darker ones just taste like char

I used to like dark roasts but I also loaded them up with cream and sugar

 

My parents got me a Keurig for Christmas but it's not my preferred way to make coffee, so they took it back and got me a laptop instead

 

different people have different preferences for how they like their coffee. people who like coffee a lot generally don't go super light or super dark with their roasts.

 

I love my beans as black as possible.

The coffee machine in our break room always makes it taste watery. I use a different one in a restricted area and it's fine. Docs always get the good stuff.

 

I like darker roasts because I enjoy their flavor, and don't really care about caffeine content. although decaf is just a silly concept.

 

I got a cold-brew system for christmas, and I'm learning that I can just use whatever cheap beans for that and can save my fancy stuff for french press or chemex.

 

Cheap beans = weak coffee tho

 

cold brew coffee comes out as a concentrate, though. I've been drinking it with a 1:1 ratio of water mixed in and it still tastes pretty strong.

 

I started cold brewing and it's embarrassing bc I use a big mason jar and a knee high pantyhose sock thing. I can't find cheesecloth around here but it tastes good so whatevs.

I macguyver a lot of things in my life.

 

I used to just do cold press, I like that I can make week+ batches now, though.

I'm trying to figure out how the drink would taste bc big red is gum and cinammony, yuck.

 

It's not cinamony at all. More like bubble gum or cotton candy

 

big red compliments the flavor of barbacoa really well imo. i hardly ever drink it besides that.

also i think big red is more of a cream soda flavor than cinnamon. thats what it tastes like to me anyway

 

I like Strawberry drink but I don't know about bubble gum or cotton candy. I had cotton candy mouthwash as a kid and that makes me want to vomit lol

 

basically take 1 bags worth of course-ground beans, steep them in 6-8 cups of water for 12-24 hours, then filter the coffee out and you have a concentrate that'll last for a few weeks in the fridge. depending on how strong you like it, you can just add a little cream, mix in some water, or take a super-strong shot of the pure coffee.

I highly recommend. I prefer lukewarm or cold coffee. My mom thinks the caffeine works better when it's really hot and my sister thinks she gets more caffeine when she drinks coffee through a straw. In the past 5 or so years I've realized just how weird my family is.
