That Somos record really, really sucked. Also, I think Waves is probably my favorite TDS song ever, I don't understnd how you could say the album ends on a "whimper" with a song like that!

I messaged Cody on Facebook the other day asking if a reunion/another album could ever happen and he said "it's honestly completely up to AJ" and that everyone else would be down. He said "I literally haven't spoken a word to him in 2 years and I've definitely made an effort."

For AJ's sake, it's probably best that he doesn't associate with someone like that. He has a kid now I believe. That child does not need such a deceitful, manipulative presence in their life.

I'm not surprised by any of this. Like I said, time heals all wounds. Give it a few years - his daughter gets a little bit older, he gets the itch to be in front of crowds and be creative again, Cody learns from his past mistakes -- I do think it will happen eventually, just not in the next two or three years. And if they do get back together, in a reunion statement I think they will have to address how they've grown and matured in order to gain some legitimacy and respect back.

This thread was a ton of fun to read through. I like how everyone has an album that means so much to them based on the time in their life and how the lyrics resonated with them. The band drama was always such a sour note on some incredible moments and songs.

I was late to the party and War Paint was my album that I spun everyday for a whole summer. It really was the soundtrack to every drive I had to Cape Cod and the relationship I was in at the time. Sometimes you wonder, if the band was functional, if we would we have gotten the albums and songs we love. Of course we wish everything we could have worked out but I'm sure some of AJ's lyrics were born out of frustration which we all relate to. Some definite talent in that band.

Did we ever find out the exact reason YMAEWK broke up?

I just listened to Reach for the Sun for the first time. I love it, can't wait to dive deeper into their discography.

I am jealous you get to listen to these records for the first time again. War Paint is a perfect summer album.

He's also still been all sorts of shady the last two years (as of recent he's stayed out of the news.) I don't blame AJ for not communicating with him.

"It's honestly up to AJ" makes it sound like he's totally blind as to why someone wouldn't want to share creative space with him. Cody has done nothing but drag him through the mud, quite publicly, over the last couple of years.

Just wanted to say something to what was a bit off-topic here - I enjoyed the new Somos record a lot! ;d ;c It wasn't as convincing as their debut, but it still has got cool flow and a bit of more space.

Also, what @Ben Lee has just said, is that it seems Cody is just blind for all the shit he's been doing the past few years, I'd second that I would probably never want to work with somebody like that. Hopefully AJ gets into making music any time in the future though.

War Paint was the first album I ever heard from them and it blew me away. Came out at the perfect time.. Couldn't really get into Reach For The Sun. Golden Record was good, but didn't have the same impact as War Paint. Always remind me of summer time. Can't believe it's been nearly 5 years.

Hey, not to self promote but I did this live video for TDS a few years back. Audio is straight from the board and mixed pretty well. Static shot, 1 angle, but it's fun. Mostly the first 2 records! Crowd sucked, sorry. Can't control that though. Fun to watch!
