okay but like try as i might i can't even begin to understand why someone would say something like "anthony burch ruined borderlands by being a feminist cuck and putting sjw crap into a sidequest" or some bullshit like that. aren't they just proving our point that perspectives need changing through storytelling? isn't it hypocritical to equate sjw/pc with censorship (instead of what it actually is: basic human decency) and then say that people trying to have a social message in their games is bad?

 

Big thread on NeoGAF about the creators of 2064: Read Only Memories condemning Trump/his actions/his supporters and while I was heartened to see the positive responses, there were still a handful of "keep your politics/social commentary separate from your games!" I think we're in an age where overwhelming vocalization of viewpoints, especially on these fronts (and within a subculture that is almost comically opposed to progress in some circles...) is necessary and important.

The problem is really just a bad case of shortsightedness and a worse case of fans just being downright allergic to change. These people are so used to being catered to in every way and gaming has had an understandably bad rap through the years for strongly catering to a male demographic that when things do change it up or point out the issues they can't think logically or reasonably about it. Their brains seem to say "keep your PC nonsense out of my fandom!" rather than "oh, yeah, I guess equality means trying to showcase different aspects in a way that works for everyone."

 

My time playing dota has led me to truly think about 30-40% of gamers are racist assholes. Unfortunately that minority is the most vocal.

I would rather we not bring politics into this thread. It's why I post here. To get away from that. I think we know most of the gaming community has that mindset. Some people just won't change, or take a long time to.

 

I just bought Stardew Valley despite probably never getting to play it solely so my brother can play it.

Played almost 3 1/2 hours of Let It Die today. Marvelous game. All Souls fan must play.

 

Some of the wingsuit challenges in steep are so fucking frustrating, I spent two hours on a single one yesterday and ended up fucking giving up

 

Super cool, makes me wanna jump back in. That's the nice thing about a buy to play mmo, you can jump back in as you please and not feel obligated to get the most out of resubbing. You can come and go on your own terms

 

Yakuza 0 update: still excellent, still getting distracted by every single minigame and sidequest in the damn game. I spent 45 minutes trying to get a stuffed animal for a little girl from a crane game. Love this series.
