Gonna be the shortest reigning champ ever.

 

My roommate suggested we make a wiki of past champs. lol

 

That would be awesome but incredibly difficult. haha

I know I'm a two-time champ but I have no idea when my reigns were.

 

For what it's worth, Meltzer has speculated Nakamura after Mania, and then Roode sometime after that.

I certainly don't think we'll get either before Mania seeing as Nak has a rematch at the next TakeOver.

Still wondering how Kassius Ohno/Chris Hero factors into NXT. I was thinking if Nakamura retained, we'd see that feud. Not sure anymore (also not sure why they didn't give him camera time last Saturday).

 

I think roode should come up like Owens did, bringing the title with him and doing both. He can lose it to the next guy up at some point but it'll bring him even more prowess. Roode is also like 40 already, it should be soon.

 

I think Roode's role at this point is to develop top contenders for the belt. Not everyone has to hit main roster.

 

While I agree with your premise, I'd just point out that the difference between the two options for calling him up is, what, a few months? Not really going to matter in the grand scheme of things. Roode is 40 but he could go a few more years easily. He's in great shape.

But hey - that's sorta been the weird thing about NXT, right? They've had Roode (40) and Samoa Joe (37) down there for extended periods when they are clearly main roster talents. And both Nakamura and Hideo Itami aren't getting any younger either.

 

But even you'll concede that Roode right now is one of the most over guys in the company - NXT or main roster.

 

I've followed roode for years and he absolutely deserves to be on the main roster, obviously you shouldn't jettison him before you have a plan for the next guys in place but I do definitely want to see guys nearing the end of their careers up sooner than later. Can't blame me Haha

 

I would also be down for doing this with Asuka. Do something like they did with Paige where Asuka brings the NXT Women's Championship with her to Smackdown, but have her eventually vacate it.

I want Asuka to drop that belt but I also want her to remain undefeated. NXT might've missed an opportunity to get around that last weekend if someone like Nikki Cross had pinned either Royce or Kay.

 

Can we not say ____ guy could easily go a few more years? So many wrestlers I've loved have been forced to retire early. It really sucks.

When you think about it Ric flair is like even more amazing because he lasted as long as he did, obviously he's had mental lapses but physically he never had anything bad.

 

Oh I agree. I want to see it. I just think they'll choose to do it in a way that makes sense.

Just think, if they had just fast-tracked him to the main roster, he wouldn't be half as over with the crowd as he is now. His time in NXT is certainly going to serve him well when he's called up.

 

I think there is an implied "barring unforeseen circumstances" attached to these sorts of statements.

 

I feel like Asuka won't be up till like early next year. The women's division just doesn't get enough time as it is and she'll probably be atop the division

 

I think it's a depth issue with NXT. If Asuka leaves, that division takes a hit. Granted, over the past few months, Kay and Royce have made great strides and Nikki Cross fits in well with SAnitY.

 

Has anyone here ever taken classes at a wrestling gym? I met a guy who is a trainer at a wrestling academy not too far from where I live and he said I could try it out for a few classes for free if I let him know beforehand.

Thinking about doing it just for the workout/for fun. Wouldn't mind getting beat up a bit and having trainers yell at me. lol And I'm a blue belt BJJ so I know how to fall. But hey - hitting the ropes would be cool to learn.

I mean, I'm not saying it's going to go anywhere and that I'll be the next Kenny Omega, but if you guys want any autographs in advance, just DM me. :)

 

Go for it man! It would be a great experience no matter what. I been looking into a wrestling school down by me purely for wanting to be a manager. Haha they apparently have classes for that too and I think id be damn good at it.

 

It would definitely be cool but it seems expensive to do just to work out. But maybe it's comparable to martial arts, idk
