Going down the southern rap route you might like 8ball&MJG, big krit, scarface. though def not el-p production.

 

I had no idea Big Krit made his own beats! Recently saw a video of him taking random samples and later he released it. Much respect for him

 

yea, he makes some great music. and his rapping keeps getting better.

I was a teensy underwhelmed with Cadillactica, though it is some of his best work.

See me on top 4 was great.

 

RTJ only has two records, so really take your pick with where to start for them. I enjoy both but think RTJ2 is a little more enjoyable.

Also seconding the suggestion of RAP Music. Mike's solo stuff is fantastic and I like RAP Music more than either RTJ album

 

Glad I'm not alone in this. RAP Music is incredible and I honestly find both RTJ albums pretty overrated

i thought about it, they basically make sample based instrumental hip hop songs, they're working with danny brown...i was on the road and couldn't make a new thread but i felt this fit for now

 

Trying not to get too excited. I remember they posted a Myspace update in like 09 saying they were clearing samples

 

I listened to Milo's So the Flies Don't Come for the first time today. Damn this is good. The beat on "Going No Place" feels euphoric. Haven't really digested the lyrics yet but I have a feeling I'll be listening to this a lot so I'm sure I'll do that soon.

 

Milo is great, saw him last week. Toothpaste Suburb also really solid.
