It's a bummer for sure, but I feel like it's better than them "jumping the horse." Nothing worse than a story that's past its prime. I feel like it's in a good place right now and it'd be a great ending.

To be fair, if the Fonz had tried to jump a horse, that episode would still be as stupid. I'm sure in some alternate reality, that is the appropriate phrase. ;)

Still don't know what that means...

But after reading the interview the creative team did for CBR about it ending I feel better about it and happy that it's on their terms. I assumed it was due to Williamson's commitments to DC, glad that it isn't (at least he says it isn't).

That's all I'm banking on at this point!

Have you guys read Greg Rucka's The Punisher? It was out of print and was devastated until I found the first volume for 5 bucks used at the comic book store I go to. Really fun and totally fits his character. Love when a comic let's the art speak for itself. Like the no dialogue issue in East of West is absolutely amazing.

It was a Happy Days reference that got mangled up in my brain!

I'm glad and the last trade was really strong. Wasn't expecting to like the Hack/Slash crossover, but I love how it tied into the history of the town.

I know DC did a silent issue to a few years ago I don't remember what book it was but damn was it great!

I think it might have been around the time Damien "died"?

Gonna see how much classic Generation X I can read through before the new series starts up.

Jubilee is the best. So is Emma Frost. So is Chris Bachalo.

Really enjoyed Chris Bacchalo's art from the things that I've seen. I read Wolverine and the X-Men and wasn't huge on it, but loving the art. Weird to get a Jason Aaron story that is goofy haha Need to check out their Doctor Strange stuff.

Also! I have a new one of these out:

Walking Dead also had a really good silent issue. I've started Tim Seeley's Revival and i'm enjoying it

Started reading vol 1 of Superman Rebirth. Kinda hate it. There is too much you need to know going in. No way I'm reading those stories to get caught up with what should have been a fresh start.

I'm so confused by anyone who's ever read a comic book, especially any with another dimension or timeline, being even remotely confused by Superman Rebirth. It's seriously so friggin' straightforward, lol.

The Superman who existed between Crisis and Flashpoint entered the New 52 world w/ his Lois.

They lived in secret and had a kid.

    New 52 Superman died.

The old Superman came out of hiding and took over.

There's a mystery in the background that hasn't been revealed yet.

That's 100% of what you need to know. Everything else should make perfect sense. The first arc was a pretty standard story of Superman loving his family while fighting some Eradicator dude who was just there to give Superman's family a threat.

Didn't know any of that going in.

But... You're a DC guy. And a regular in this thread. You never once heard anyone say, "New 52 Superman died, and pre-New 52 Superman took his place"? lol.

It was mentioned in the DC Rebirth one shot everyone was talking about, and also in Justice League Rebirth. And also in the new Trinity series. And, in the Superman: Rebirth prelude one-shot that's included in that trade. And, I think again in Superman #1 briefly at the beginning!

Once more, for those in the back: NEW 52 SUPERMAN DIED. PRE-NEW 52 SUPERMAN IS NOW IN THE MAIN UNIVERSE. HE HAS A SON. THERE'S MORE TO THE STORY, BUT THAT STORY HASN'T BEEN TOLD YET.

Typically I see Superman then just skip over everything afterwards. My Superman knowledge starts and ends with Rebirth Vol 1 and Superman Unchained, haven't read anything else and admittedly I'm sure I missed things but it didn't really grab me or make me want to care personally.

I dunno, to me it just feels like the one story that is unnecessarily convoluted. All of the other continuities are fine and well explained.

    - Oh, looks like Oliver and Dinah have a relationship they forgot about for reasons.
    - Oh, Zooom messed up the world with Flashpoint and Wally came back.
    - Aquaman has the same status quo from New 52.
    - Justice League is all buddy buddy except for that new Superman (uhhhh)

Two Supermen living on the same planet just feels like cheating to me. I think my major problem is that it is just reaaaaallllllllyyyyy dumb. It's basically a cop out for when Superman lost his powers/secret identity.

  24. Henry

All of that being said, I really liked the first two issues of the story proper. lol

You think that the whole Wally West mess is less convoluted than Superman? There are literally two speedster Wally Wests, lol.

I just can't wrap my mind around "other reality's Superman replaced the one from recent years" being dumb or overly convoluted or whatever compared to, um, EVERYTHING ELSE at Marvel and DC for the past however many decades. At least @Colby Searcy admitted he just doesn't care about Superman, which is why he didn't get what was happening, lol. Having some lame anti-Supes bias is the only way this argument makes sense.

After all, we have comics involving two Wally Wests coexisting, multiple Spider-Men from various realities coexisting, Age of Apocalypse/the Exiles, Old Man Logan, time-displaced X-Men, Cable's origin, Psyloche's origin, Crisis on Infinite Earths, Vision and Scarlet Witch's babies, the death and return of Bruce Wayne, etc...

Oh, and this Superman story has nothing to do with secret identities. The family living on a farm in the middle of nowhere could've happened to the New 52 Superman. The problem was, that Superman was just too different from what everyone knows and loves. It wasn't really fixable. They already had Superman: Lois and Clark running in the aftermath of Convergence, so they decided to kill the Superman everyone hated and set things right for the character.

(Though, I am really curious as to what the upcoming story arc is gonna say about these two Supermen. They easily could just leave things as is, but it seems like they want this story to somehow tie into whatever is churning w/ Doctor Manhattan.)
