The fastlane main event doesn't spoil any Rumble outcomes, for those wondering.

Definitely avoiding Fastlane/EC spoilers, want the Rumble to be as much of a surprise as possible. Bad enough that Ive seen the betting odds for some of the outcomes

 

yeah I'm about to head out to the dome in a bit so I'll be sure to stay off wrestling social media.

 

the main event last night was shit booking. roode either needs a legitimate win to look strong or you need to solidify his bonafides as a heel. all they did was make shinsuke look like a doofus by having him get hurt trying something stupid. roode gets nothing from that from a character standpoint while nakamura looks incompetent, laying there injured for 5 minutes without a real case for the audience to feel sympathy.

 

I thought Roode played the role as heel pretty well. Yeah, they could've gone more extreme in that line of booking but calling it "shit" is a bit harsh imo.

 

I thought it was booked well.

Thought Roode did great as well (though he isnt a Joe level heel, obviously). The injury was just odd. It felt real because he had made that same move earlier and the match was fine. But as a work, it just felt like they flipped a switch and said "ok, lets work this finish".

Which makes sense, since they hadnt really told some amazing story going into it

 

AJ Styles ppv matches get me pumped every time. If they give him a shit match at WM I'll be so mad. He puts on the best match every ppv. I wish I followed him more closely before he came to WWE. I just never have time/don't know how to watch most of the other promotions.

 

I thought the injury worked well even if it was somewhat forced. My initial thought when Nakamura did that move on the apron was "shit that looked rough". And then he grabbed his knee. It was very believable.

 

I thought the PPV as a whole was great as usual with Takeovers despite the lackluster build. The Seth stuff was a nice surprise.

 

I'm expecting something awesome from the Rollins storyline tonight.

 

him being a heel did not factor into the finish, nor did the finish make him look strong. the only thing responsible for the result was nakamura's incompetence in getting hurt trying something he shouldn't have, which only succeeds in making shinsuke look dumb and leads to no case for sympathy and no real sense of injustice. i don't know exactly what emotions you were supposed to feel last night, which is why i've reached the conclusion that it was lousy booking.

if you wanted to go down the injury route for the finish then roode has to be responsible for it, plain and simple. it builds him as a heel, it makes nakamura look wronged, and it adds to the feud going forward. but they didn't do that, so it's basically just a fluke that does nothing for bobby's character and undermines shinsuke's.
