Cause we have gotten so many with AvA since he left blink. Oh and that acoustic WDNTW album he promised that came along swimmingly

30 songs with Skiba in 2 years vs. 19 songs in what 6 years after the reunion.

Honestly I'm happy with what we've gotten with Skiba. Solid album and a massive tour, not to mention a ton of bonus tracks coming in the near future. If blink was done completely I would be satisfied with what they gave us with Matt, but of course I'll always want more.

I remember first seeing "blink-182 w/ Matt Skiba" on the Musink poster and being in such absolute denial that Tom would fuck everything up again that I thought, "Oh sweet! This Matt Skiba guy is gonna do guest vocals on some songs." And then the articles came out and my girlfriend and I (who were huge fans at the time) were just devastated. Such a weird time but awesome seeing Skiba live with the band.

  6. I listened to Alkaline Trio for awhile tonight. I like Matt in Blink, but Matt in Alkaline Trio is just perfection. He's incredible in that band. I was really hoping with his contributions that California was going to be fast, angsty, and dark. Almost a return to the sound and vibes of Untitled. I really hope they utilize Matt's lyrical strengths more on the next record.

I'm sure they will....I hope. If I remember right they were sounding that way Pre Feldman, maybe they'll go that way on the next one.

I liked Alkaline a bit before he joined Blink, and was a fan but nowhere huge as some of you guys on here. I will say 'Burn' remains one of my favorite songs to jam out to

Also, working an overnight shift tonight that allows me to listen to my MP3 player. Decided to listen to California front to back. This album sounds really fucking good on headphones.

Just found last night that Danny Andriano from Alkaline Trio did cover of What Went Wrong like 5 years ago on this split with their old drummer.it sounds amazing

Had a dream last night that Blink dropped a single from the Deluxe album and it was a MASSSSSIVE hit

Yeah I truly think blink was playing it safe for this album specifically for it to be a massive hit and to get the band's name back in the public eye. I think the next album they will have more freedom to explore musically, especially since when recording California they only played 3 shows together as a band and were still in the learning process of writing/recording together. There was obviously a ton of pressure on all 3 members, which shouldn't be there moving forward.

This is obviously leading to Tom teaming up with Dan and Derek as the new Alkaline Trio. Just imagine Tom singing Sadie or Radio.

Do you think Tom could even sound like his former self if he tried?

    Are You Watching Closely?

Id imagine they'd be proud of their accomplishment and perseverance, but will probably be at least partially bummed Tom wasn't a part of it tbh... You'd have to be a huge asshole and a miserable human being to take a highlight of your career and taint it by using it as a "middle finger" to someone that helped get you there, regardless of a currently rocky relationship

Yeah blink wouldn't have been who they are without Tom.. it's difficult to say what could've been, but I think had Tom not changed the trajectory of their sound, they would've fallen into the "popular, but not as successful" category with bands such as MxPx, The Offspring, The Ataris, etc.

Also, not a big production buff, so excuse me if my lack of knowledge shines through, but do you think we'll ever hear a remastered version of neighborhoods. Is it possible to salvage the production choices on that record?

I'd rather hear a remastered version of Dude Ranch. Its my favorite Blink album and Mark and Tom get pretty out of tune through out the album. Don't get me wrong though, I love the album the way it stands, but after hearing the remastered version of "Dammit" for Guitar Hero (or Garage Band...one of those two games) some time back, I've been dying to hear the entire album remastered bc it sounded soooooo clean.

I was pumped that NFG decided to remaster their self-titled for the 10 year anniversary. I can tell a huge difference in that.

Good thing the majority of those songs have been quality too! (Excluding the ones we haven't heard)

Totally agree. I like California a lot more than Neighborhoods and DED. But I was pointing out more about the lack of production during the last version of the band before Skiba joined.

The last two times I tried listening to California I gave up at Home and put on Self Titled. I really do like quite a few of the songs on there but it just drags so hard for me from Home until Left Alone.

Recently put on California and found a good chunk of it nearly unbearable. It's fun to turn your brain off and listen to, I guess. The lyrics were the most off putting aspect, it's all just so... cliché and I know they're capable of much better, especially with Matt Skiba on board. Hope they come up with something better for the deluxe edition.
