I think BTD is the only song that holds up all the way through to me. The other songs have good MOMENTS but pretty much every one has something I don't like about it. BTD is still really good.

It's not as bad now that I'm obviously really familiar with the songs, but I think what many people said when it was released still stands: should have opted for more musical moments instead of all the "whoas" and "ohs".

Those vocal melodies aren't inherently bad, but It feels like the songs never get to breathe. As much as I love the Mark/Matt dynamic, it honestly makes it worse having two singers packed into every song. It's like they overcompensated for everyone whining that Neighborhoods had too many bridges without vocals. haha.

I kind of like having both singers in a lot of the songs, but I'd be ok with a couple that were all Mark or all Matt.

I've started to come around to Teenage Satellites. The only songs I think are weak on the album are California and The Only Thing That Matters. I enjoy Home but have to be in the mood to listen to it.

I like it too, don't get me wrong. I just mean when the two singers are compounded with the whoa's and ah's flying around to fill up every measure of the song that doesn't have lyrics already, it gets kind of chaotic. It doesn't ruin any songs for me, but it definitely feels like some of the songs could have been enhanced by utilizing some guitar riffs in their place.

The na nas and whoas are pretty filler. For example, the "na na na na na whoa" part in California should have been replaced by a guitar doing that exact part

Or anything really.. Keyboard line, synth, etc.

The instrumental parts feel rushed to me in the majority of the songs. Like "Quick! Get back to the vocals!"

Actually I feel like that's the most sensible use of na-nas for a blink song on the whole record, it reminds me of Online Songs lol.

I can't believe it's been 2 years already. Still remember that day, I came home early from work because there was a pretty bad snow storm in CT and went on Twitter and blink was trending and went to Absolute Punk and was in shock but not really.

Still think it's funny Tom claimed he was on the phone trying to book a blink event for NYC yet couldn't be bothered to play at Travis' event in his home state that March. I really wish a reporter would have sat down with Tom and went over each of his statements he made and pointed out all of the inconsistencies of them. Maybe that would have helped with the Tombots for the last 2 years.

Oh well, the band is better off where they are today without him. It's too bad but whatever glad he's enjoying his new life.

Haha I remember that too. My office closed at like 1pm that day to make sure we all got home safely before the storm really hit...I was on the subway flipping through facebook and saw the Alternative Press article.

Glad that he's enjoying his life too. It just makes me bummed that at one point Tom wanted nothing more than to have his band be the biggest band in the world. Sadly it took him leaving the band for them to become massive again.

Yeah I mean I totally respect him wanting to be home and be with his family and doing other things with his life. Being a rock star isn't a easy. I just wish he would have handled it better and not lied to the fans for years and continue to lie to them. I wish he would have just been honest and said he was stepping down for the time being to pursue other interests. I don't think he would have gotten much if any backlash from the fans.
