So what are they going with? That's a really odd omission.

 

It's a standard party of human heroes now. There are new companion monsters called Higgledies, but they all look the same besides color ala Pikmin, and they have a much less important function. Really odd for sure, seems like the most loved aspect for players and the most marketable as well. It's crazy that after 20 years, Pokemon is still the only series occupying the monster collecting space for the most part. Here's the interview:

Huh. As long is the story is pretty good, I'm still into it. That last game gave me all of the feels.

I just want some diversity in characters. A lot of what I loved about the first game was the endless combination of creature choices.

In relation to your comment about monster collecting, Yokai Watch is HUGE despite the games not being interesting whatsoever.

 

Oh wow, no idea how I forgot about Yo Kai. Both Level 5 games as well. Probably only wanted to do one monster collecting franchise at a time.

 

The Yo Kai Watch games are interesting just by being so weird. They might not be mechanically great, but they're certainly special I think.

 

I personally just found them unnecessarily tedious. Lots of fetch quests and not much substance. I liked the wide array of monsters and witty names. I just could not get invested in anything I was doing.

 

I thought NNK2 was ditching the monsters based on the last trailer and honestly it's made me slightly more excited for it. I liked the monster collecting a lot but it started to be a bit intimidating with how many there were, ha. I also thought most of them got worse as they evolved.

 

I read the preview in the latest game informer issue and they seem much more impressed than I expected. There's more variety in the game than was shown in E3 apparently. I'm cautiously optimistic. Will be trying it later.

 

hey all, I've received feedback that at times this thread feels very repetitive, i.e. discussing the same few things over and over. that's not necessarily a problem, but it can be irritating if you're not interested in those few topics. so I just wanted to remind people we have several franchise-specific threads for some of the more popular games. I would encourage you to make use of them if you want to have a longer discussion about a particular game, since not everyone here is interested in reading two pages of Final Fantasy talk, for instance. that said, we won't be forcing anyone to use these threads (this is the general Video Game thread after all), it's just a suggestion/encouragement to make these threads better for everyone.

downloaded my first mobile game in a while. has anyone else heard of or checked out A Normal Lost Phone?

There are some great mobile games though I'm always annoyed by the small phone screen. My iPad is too old to function normally and I don't really see the point in buying one anytime soon.

 

A Normal Lost Phone sounds awesome. Is it?

 

I remember buying that playstation smartphone because fuck actual mobile games. I would download roms for it and the phone would feel like it was on fire in a matter of minutes.

 

I've only played about 30 minutes of it and it's really cool. Going to sit down and play some more after work.

Haha nice timing. I'm seeing only multiplayer available but I'm impressed. It's more challenging than I thought it would be.

 

I dont have beta access otherwise i would try it out

ok there are some people who either are just VERY good at fighting games or who have been playing all day already. i feel more confident in the 2v2/4v4 modes as opposed to the 1v1 duel...hahahaha. also this is the most violent & realistic game ubi has made, you can choose to enable/disable the blood/flesh effects, and dismemberment effects. yes it's that bad hahaha. it's not fun losing. again, i'm not sure if players have access to single player right now like the press seems to, but i'm enjoying the multiplayer fwiw. you have multiple ways to block and dodge attacks and if you don't have good timing, forget it, you are SCREWED!

 

always down for a challenge! I don't know how much I'll be able to play tonight (have XB1) but I will be on for most of the day tomorrow. coincidentally took off for my bday so this is a nice surprise!
