I may still pre-order this because I'm seriously in love with this album

This is most certainly inferior to Celebration Rock.

    But that's okay. Still great.

Oh man. When they posted donate links in their banner and reviewed Phil Ochs for inauguration weekend I promised not to shit on the 'fork until my birthday. That is going to be HARD to keep, isn't it?

You will not like this review. Haha

  7. Oh for sure, I didn't like it either. I was just expecting something way more negative and was surprised ha.

I mean that review actually reads worse than the score even. To me the record was panned by P4K. Did it say anything positive about the record other than he likes "No Known Drink or Drug"?

Well, the production is very lackluster

I was curious about this too. Lots of negativity, lots of "I wish this was celebration rock," but then the review ends with it's not that bad. Kinda weird

Seriously. The first paragraph of that Ringer piece is laughable. "Let me make people feel bad for liking this record before I talk about how I like this record."

It's a symptom of them thinking their opinion is actually important

  16. It's kind of been one of the only real staples of music reviewing over the last decade. An attempt to always keep some kind of "cred" in check, you can like pop ironically, but you really like these "serious" artists more. It's all about cultivating an image and ignoring any real stand that may show you're not as cool as you want others to think you are.

  17. Honestly I feel like that's p4k in 2017 - a lot of reviews read that way to me

I've never been a huge pitchfork reader tbh, but that's incredibly frustrating

Love this so much outside of Arc of Bar which does very little for me

The Ringer is dope and has a lot of amazing film critics writing for them. Rarely read their music posts tho, the one about Migos today was an entertaining read

  24. I hope in 10 years all the publications have egg on their face like the ones that now are like so Brand New and Jimmy Eat World actually are good!

I hope so too. The backhanded reviews for Chase This Light and Futures and Daisy are embarrassing imo
