Humble Bundle has a great deal going on this week for Image titles.

Excited that Detective Comics comes out next week in trade. Thank god they abandoned the hardcover idea.

Initial hardcover releases are pretty obnoxious, unless it's something I don't mind owning in hardcover. My favorite comicon booth sometimes has those slim Marvel hardcovers in their 4-for-$20 section, which is cool.

I like the idea of everything coming out in paperback format first, and then later as oversized hardcovers and/or an omnibus.

    What was the HC idea?

Personally I like the hardcovers best, less flimsy when reading and don't have to worry about cracking the spine.

I LOATHE the fact that we were getting hardcovers six months after the release of the last issue and then another six months before the paperbacks. How long has it been since New 52 ended and we are getting trades of Rebirth before the last trades of Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, etc. If I'm going to buy hardcover, I want it to be a one off story like the recent Wonder Woman books, not main line stories. I like that they put out omnibus hardcover versions later on though. If you are collecting a years worth of issues, that's fine by me.

Ah that! Yeah it is kinda lame to wait so long for things like that. Doesn't Marvel do the same too? From my experience they seemed to be worse about it than DC, especially in the # of issues collected in their HC

They do. Its a bummer on both fronts. The only Marvel book I collect that does it is Thor, so it isn't too crushing. I'll probably pick up the Doctor Strange trades at some point, but no rush there.

Especially since good ol' Silver Sablinova (best name ever) will be in that arc by Stuart Immonen, which looks like it's gonna be GORGEOUS. That's one I could read in hardcover. ;-)

The absolutely fantastic series AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: RENEW YOUR VOWS is bringing in the X-Men, and apparently their X-Men are the 90s X-Men! This series is pure fan service in the best way, lol.

Really want to read this! The art for this and Superman looked so good. Really need to get the new Batman stuff though. Been waiting forever. Picked up the first issue and loved that one-shot.

Artwork was fantastic in GA. Superman was eh story wise, artwork wasn't too memorable to me really but I'm not the best person to ask regarding that haha.

    The GA One-shot?

Superman is a fantastic character when done right, and the current series is a wonderful series, and @Colby Searcy is a butthead.

Nah, I read the Batman one-shot with Snyder still attached, but the first issue of Batman was so good. Finch's art is amazing.

Have you checked out the Flash stuff? Only read the first issue of that and loved it. So many trades to pick up.

You should know by now... Leave it to me to have awful comic opinions!

IIRC our first interaction from the AP days was you calling me a dork for hating on Tim Sale's artwork.

Have both Batman and The Flash trades checked out from the library currently actually, plan to read them over the next few weeks.

I'm a big Joshua Williamson fan since he started Nail biter and always loved Finch's stuff (really need to check out the WW run with his wife eventhough most hated it). Haven't really read much of Tom King but it's Batman so I know I'll like it! Big big big fan of Snyder.

Have been reading through my backlog stack every night now. It's slowly slimming down, so when it's done I can read the next Fairyland and Paper Girls trade.

I'm reading through that Wonder Woman run right now and I love it. It's possible I'm giving it too much credit though because it's actually about Wonder Woman! Which seems to be impossible to find in a Wonder Woman comic, all the ones I'm reading end up being about some rotating bro or god that I don't give a shit about. Brian Azzarelo's run was fine, but I feel like less than half the pages were devoted to Wonder Woman doing anything. Finch's WW looks great too. I'm probably totally backwards on that opinion but whatever, haha.

Strong recommendation coming from you haha. Will definitely check it out!

Did you read Gail Simone's WW run? Thoughts if so?

  25. Vivatoto

I read the run's leading up to Simone's run to prepare, Jodi Picoult among others, I've been really excited for it. I didn't love the first arc for Simone's but I do enjoy her take on WW. It's getting a lot better though in the second arc. Even Simone's run is bogged down by an uninteresting cast of characters though. There's a guy in there that's so boring and I can't remember his name. It's very strange to me how little WW is in her solo titles that I've read.
