Two-time breast cancer survivor with a daughter on permanent disability due to childhood cancer + kidney transplant and a husband who also had testicular cancer, asking on Facebook "why all the anti-Trump signs at the women's march don't be a hater be a do-er" and I do not have the energy because this woman is my mother's lifelong best friend and literally helped raise me.

    I'm sorry :(

If you do, I have some helpful links so people can understand:

  4. Feel like with very little benifit of doubt it's easy to kinda see what Patton was trying to say: this was successful and awesome, we should keep doing it, Trump said no one cares about his taxes, let's prove him wrong. I'll help however I can but the people that did the March yesterday are incredibly good at organizing and I'm not.

Wish people gave others just a tad more leeway before trying to prove why they're more enlightened, we'd have a better chance at larger coalitions that way. There are good battles to fight and really bad ones. This is a bad one imo.

  5. Sarah Silverman's feed today annoyed me way more for example. I don't have the stomach for appeasement moralizing while people die and literal nazis feel safe to espouse their bigotry again.

  6. I spent the whole day listening to Bad Religion. Been too long.

Yea you're right. I don't mean to stop the line of thinking for more and more protests about meaningful issues. Just, like you said. Not a battle that we need to fight anymore.

Agree to disagree. I, for one, hope they keep on going. And you've already seen Jason's post above which summarizes my own thoughts exactly.

A patient of mine is waiting on a heart transplant and we draw blood 3 times a week. The tests cost $300 each and he's devastated by the fact that he may not have insurance. He is 37 with a wife and 3 kids.

Yea, I just dislike the way Oswalt participates in politics a lot. His responses are almost always restatements of some gross quote with one change or adding a hashtag to make it "satire", or just dumb trolling.

Saving Private Ryan was on AMC yesterday afternoon. I took pleasure in seeing Nazis pulverized.

just because Becky put on a good birthday party for her friend (and only other female co-worker) Sarah doesn't mean its okay to say "Becky should organize a birthday party for Steve next. I'd be happy to help". Instead go "Hey Becky, I want to organize a birthday party for Steve would you mind giving me some tips because you did such a good job with Sarah's?"

This doesn't have to and shouldn't have to be a battle, and if it is, it means Patton is part of the problem.

I don't think he meant any ill-will with his tweet. But it was still a problematic symptom of societies tendency to push hard work onto other people who have done the task before (especially onto women) rather than stepping up and doing it yourself, and I don't see anything wrong with calling him out on it so he can either learn and grow.

I mean, he was asking, not telling, in the tweet as well. One might even characterize what he said as begging. But as I said earlier, I'm agreeing to disagree on this one because I am positive that Patton did not mean it the way you're choosing to read it and I know I won't change anyone's mind otherwise.

I agree his intentions were pure. But that doesn't mean there wasn't a strong thread of internalized sexism in a man telling women's march organizers what issues he thinks they should care about.

this is so sad it took me ten minutes to realize he misspelled restaurant

also feel better that I can't stop saying "that's a Spicer meatball"

If it makes you feel any better, restaurant was often a word I misspelled, and I'm a freakin' copywriter.

Again, asking/begging, not telling. But, also again, agreeing to disagree.
