I've been loving Superman and also loved the first arc of Detective Comics (but dropped it after that). Green Lanterns has been a flawed series in a lot of ways, but I really dig it mostly for the dynamic between Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz.

Others here can say more, since I haven't really gone beyond that too much.

I'm glad I don't give up on some books. Hack/Slash has become one of my favorites. The art can be hit or miss, but gives them a ton of creative avenues. The Archie issues have been great.

Pshhh... Amaterasu is the best character in that book. Love her so much.

I really liked the way Grayson started out, but by these last two trades, I have no fucking clue what is going on.

Picked up Descender Vol 2 and Monstress Vol 1 today. I'm 3 or 4 issues behind on Wic/Div. Plan on reading all of that this weekend.

Curse Words was fun. Definitely going to keep following it.

Might pick up Kill or be Killed next week.

    Hey, thread pals!

Idea I had recently: We should, as a joint venture, make "Further Reading" recommendation posts for Chorus to coincide with new superhero movie releases.

What I envision are posts framed after the first page of this thread, with about 5 comic book recommendations based on characters/concepts in said movie. The goal would be to give people who watch movies but read little to no comic book material an easy way to jump into the medium while hyped on a particular film, and also to promote this thread amongst any comic book fans who stumble upon Chorus.

There wouldn't be clear limits in who writes what: Maybe one post would have only one or two super fans writing the blurbs (I have in mind a full Logan one already, lol), while maybe another would be a collection of five different people's recommendations.

I messaged Jason about this idea, and he's interested in running these on the front page, but he might just link to a post here, depending on what the first one looks like and what's easiest/makes the most sense.

I was thinking we could start with Logan, but I'm also down for starting with LEGO Batman (even though it's a very different kinda movie; maybe for that one we could recommend 5 comics with Batman that are funny and quirky, like Batman '66).

    Who's down? Thoughts?

I think it's a really cool idea, i just dont know how much I could contribute. I don't read very many super hero books at the moment. If something comes out that I feel like I could add to I would be happy to participate

One of the Logan recs I was gonna include was one of the Old Man Logan volumes (probably vol. 2: Borderland 'cause it has Reavers), so you could contribute there!

If people want to participate but have limited experience, we'll totally leave room for those people in the rare cases they have something to add. The more, the merrier!

lol. More so I have a potential list of books in mind. Actually, I'll use that to help paint a picture of my goal:

    -Weapon X by Barry Windsor-Smith
    -X-23 Complete Collection vol. 1
    -Wolverine by Greg Rucka
    -Old Man Logan: Borderland
    -All-New Wolverine vol. 1

Weapon X introduces people to the original story, which lays the groundwork for the rest. That X-23 volume includes her origin, which will feature heavily in some form in Logan. The Rucka run takes place in a similar region and has a similar vibe to the film. Borderland has an old, weary Logan violently fighting Reavers. And, All-New Wolverine has X-23 helping a young clone of herself, which is a nice next generation story. So, someone interested in comics because of Wolverine will get a lot out of those specific comics.

    I like that idea.

Had a gift card and picked up Superman rebirth, Green Arrow rebirth and Injustice year one. My two orders shipped from IST so I'm about to have a ton of books and zero time to read them. Lol

So, do we wanna start with LEGO Batman, or with Logan?

Like I said, if we want to count LEGO Batman, we should lean towards Batman/DC comics that are more light-hearted, like Batman 66, Lil Gotham, etc. Are there enough good silly Batman trades people can recommend to be worth starting with that one? (I am alright with more than one trade from the same run, but I obviously prefer more variety.) Isn't Batman: Snow supposed to be pretty fun and bright for a Batman story?

I don't think I've ever read a goofy Batman story. lol

I personally always want to know a lot about the villains too, so for like Wonder Woman we could do a good Ares story, or The Batman some Deathstroke.

Definitely. Which, Deathstroke is a good example 'cause he had a solo Rebirth series that I hear is good.

Yeah the second arc especially has him taking on some superheroes so it would be a good fit. I've been trying to find good Deathstroke Vs Batman stories, if I do I'll keep them in mind.

So I finally finished Superman:Rebirth Vol 1 and it was meh. I know it wasn't meant to be funny but I cracked up when the son obliterated the cat on accident.

Also read Southern Bastards Vol 2 and holy shit was that crazy!
