About a month late, but I just saw Rogue One for the first time last night. Really enjoyable movie. My expectation for the off-trilogy movies is similar to a band having side projects. I like that the movie was a little less funny and a little more bleak, but still kept the Star Wars essence. I'm more than happy to add it to the story arch, unlike the prequels. I understand wanting to compare it to the main story movies, but I think that's a little unfair to Rogue One. Other than some nitpicks, I thought they did as well as we could expect. Now on to VIII!

  3. One of the worst movies I saw last year. Truly disappointingly awful.

  4. Even worse than the previous one ?

I agree. Star Trek 2 was still fun, just not as good as the first. This 3rd one was rough though.

I dunno, I've enjoyed all three of the new Star Trek movies. The first one is probably the best, but the other two were still good. I've never seen any other Star Trek material though.

Into Darkness was a watered down remake of the Wrath of Khan, a story about the totality and rich history of Kirk and Spock's relationship that Abrams made in their second outing together with a white guy playing Khan. Beyond had a scene where Kirk destroys an army by blasting Beastie Boys. Beyond is way better.

I thought STB got rave reviews?

So did STID. (I haven't seen Beyond so I can't say if it's good or not, just putting that out there.)

To be fair I don't think either of them are good. Beyond is just worse.

    Finally!

Been dying to watch it again.

Did anyone else think the lighting was a bit poor in the cinema when they watched it? It might have just been the one me and my gf went to (saying that we've been there loads in the past and had no problems not to mention they are one of the biggest here) but we had trouble seeing the background little details because of poor lighting in the darker scenes.

Blah, no deleted scenes on the first release. I learned my lesson with TFA; I'll be waiting for the 2nd release.

Didn't notice in my theater. Saw it in IMAX 3D and it had incredible lighting.

Maybe. They are doing 3D right away with this one, so a later release seems less likely. At least not as early as TFA had another release.

Like actually the lighting in the cinema?? You mean like the colors and contrast of the film?

I know it's Disney but I didn't know they were this....progressive with spreading content across different releases. I especially won't take issue consuming any future extra features without paying now.

I'd pay pretty decent money for a copy of the original cut of the film before the studio ordered reshoots done. As someone who was less than thrilled with the final product, I want to believe at least a good chunk of deleted scenes eventually see the light of day.

I'd take any extras I could get out of this movie too considering it's likely going to be one of the very best films in the batch. And there's apparently alot of content from it that we haven't seen.

It seems to have a pretty good set of special features.

Didn't know TFA rerelease had director commentary, that's a bummer.

I'm not going to rush out to get these rereleases but if they go on sale somewhere or I can get a used copy I'll do that
