Any of the games are a fine entry point really - Awakening, Fates Birthright (as the easier of the two Fates paths), and I believe the two GBA games are on the Wii U VC. I'm personally a bigger fan of the GBA games than either 3DS one but they're all good, the 3DS games might be a bit friendlier than the older GBA entries.

 

Fates Birthright is probably the best entry point

 

Awakening was my first fire emblem game and was a great introduction. I just started playing Fates: birthright and also am loving it. Either or I think works as a good start, but awakening is a tad easier to get into considering Fates is 3 games technically and a much bigger investment.

 

Yeah, the three games thing is the main reason I picked Awakening. Plus I like Awakening more.

 

I played way before Awakening, but I also agree it's the best starting point.

Or if you're fine with a harder difficulty, the GBA ones.

I preordered the Switch on Friday morning, and was feeling a little guilty about budgeting that much money there given my real world responsibilities... but now I'm full on excited. Even Has-Been Heroes looks fun.

Nintendo Switch’s included Joy-Con Grip is not the same as $30 Charging Grip

 

Yeah, I love Nintendo, but this is unacceptable. Made even worse by the fact that Nintendo themselves weren't even close to clear on this. They need consumer good-will. Already prepared for the influx of people asking why their grip isn't charging the Joycons.

 

I've honestly been debating canceling my preorder the last few days when I've been reevaluating how much money on top of that $300 I'm going to pretty much have to spend... Didn't really think about it at first when I placed my order, but man, it's going to add up fast.

 

I feel ya, but everything in the box will get me through the first couple of months. I won't go longer than an hour on a normal work day with out a place to charge, and will only need the two Joycons for the initial multiplayer offering. I will definitely be trading my Wii U in towards the costs as well.

 

I thought about that too, but still. The price tags on all the accessories and the thought of paying for another internet service scares me. haha. I feel like if I've committed $300 towards it, I'll be inclined to go ahead and spend more.

 

I don't think it should come as a surprise that the standard joycon grip that comes with the system is not the charging one. not saying i don't wish that wasn't the case, but it's not a surprise. the joycons have 20 hours of battery life, and i'm sure most people will slide them into their switch when they're done playing anyways. not really a huge issue.

 

Watched the BoTW trailer again today and I gotta say I really dig Zelda's design

 

The art style in BotW is easily my favorite in a Zelda game since WW. I also really love that Zelda design.

 

I hate that Nintendo is likely going to trick me into talking myself into buying a Switch at launch because of freaking Zelda. $400 for freaking Zelda....so mad.

 

Why is it 400?

I wonder if Level 5 is up to something for Switch. I've been hoping for a Fantasy Life 2. While I didn't love the first one, I thought all the elements really worked together and there was pretty much potential to flesh out the gameplay more.

 

What is everyone's rankings of the home console Zelda games? I think mine would be

1) Skyward Sword (yeah, I know, but I like origin stories)
2) Twilight Princess
3) Ocarina of Time
4) A Link to the Past
5) Majora's Mask
6) Legend of Zelda
7) Zelda II (It was too difficult for me to beat so I'll put it at the bottom)

I haven't played Wind Waker so it's not ranked.

 

Omggggg play Wind Waker immediately. Can't imagine that being the game to not play.

Now that I think about it, most of my favorites in the series are the top-down perspective games. I would rank Link Between Worlds and Phantom Hourglass over Majora's Mask and maybe even Ocarina.
