Idk I kind of feel like some expected too much. I think there's a lot of pretentious outlooks on where gaming should be and where it actually is. I always felt like Nintendo was the simpler, funner and more lighthearted gaming avenue then what PS and XBox offer, and that's always been okay cause they were good at it. I think the Switch aesthetically is perfect for Nintendo and the launch games look great. Having online gaming, talking to other players, and all that other stuff would be moot to me if I bought one. The Wii sports games were probably the most fun I ever had with any newer Nintendo console and the co op games on the Switch look just as fun. I won't knock it till I try it.

@Colby Searcy I don't remember what they said, I only remember the stuff I wrote and that nobody I follow that touched it (mostly Waypoint people, NWR and Giant Bomb people) complained about it haha.

A person from NWR, who's also a developer that has had a dev kit for a while, also said that the two little controllers are very nice and have a "fidelity" comparable to the Vive/Occulus controllers, rather than Wii Remotes or Move controller, and that if you put the in the grip, the thing feels like a 360 controller.

If it weighed as much as a 3ds xl that would be amazing. That's 12 ounces. I seriously doubt that from the pictures I've seen but man I'm hoping.

I saw a few places say it felt a little heavier than a Wii U gamepad, so over a pound. I'd like it light, but everyone who has played one that I've seen has said it felt very comfortable in both weight and feel so that's the least of my concerns in regards to the console.

Yep. It's all about taking breaks. Otherwise it's not fun anymore (that and it's not good for your health anyway heh).

Once you have went down the road of playing hundreds of hours of Dark Souls PVP, you'll stop caring about silly things like your performance in competitive shooters :crylaugh:

I think the Switch looks great. Between what we've seen of Zelda and Mario, I'm convinced. My only gripe is the pricing of accessories.

I'm starting to think the only reason I care about smite pro league is because of the memes and drama.

My main gripe is motion controls, I don't want any of that shit outside of VR.

And yeah I dunno about this don't be critical before it comes out type of talk. We are speaking for ourselves here, I know that outside of a few IPs I'm not going to enjoy my time with the Switch otherwise.

The excessive pricing on accessories, questionable online subscription, system specs are all just the cherry on top of my non-enthusiasm.

HD Rumble seems cool in theory... but really how many games are going to take advantage of it? And is it a significant enough improvement to warrant a set of joy cons costing 80 bucks, because if that's the reason they are listed for that cost... it probably shouldn't be a thing.

I know Jeff and Dan from GB said they didn't play anything that made use of it.

i just dont use voice chat and dont listen to the people who do when i play online. i have no interest in hyper competitive play, im a casual just trying to have some fun for an hour or two at a time every few days. back in the day when i was a hardcore raider in wow i used voice chat a lot and it was fine but in my more casual play style i just dont care to talk to anyone. so its not stressful for me because i cant hear people telling me to killmyself and that im a ***got

I get the sentiment, or least where it might come from, but "It probably shouldn't be a thing" is the eventual death of any industry

You should really expound on your death of the industry point.

If your innovation adds little to nothing of significance (HD Rumble)... it becomes a gimmick, a gimmick that drives up the price of an accessory is unforgivable imo.

They struck gold with the Wii, but they've been trying to recapture that magic with the Wii U and the Switch and it's just not going to happen. Trying to recapture the motion control craze of the mid-late 2000s isn't innovation, it's a failed attempt at a market that isn't going to care at all about the Switch.

It's nearly impossible to say what invention and innovation leads to what. Also, anything is better than stagnation. I stagnating industry is a dying industry, that is business 101.

Ok then. My point was that HD Rumble isn't really "innovation".

Calling it so seems like marketing speak.

I mean at a personal level, I do too. (I really don't like motion controls) But I'm mostly speaking on trying to seemingly recapture the casual casual audience (i.e grandparents, aunts, et. al non-gamers) that hopped on the Wii like nothing else before.

i mean, that is their audience, thats the nintendo niche. just because the wii u didnt sell as well was the wii doesnt mean it was a technological failure, which is what we're talking about with the features of the switch. personally the switch looks sweet, i'll definitely buy one eventually when more titles come out.

The Switch doesn't have that pack in sort of title that the Wii had with Wii Sports that captivated the masses.

Sure there is 1, 2 switch... which seems like nintendo's effort to make a Wii Sports like launch title, but that isn't something grandma is really going to want to play.

I have no doubt in my mind the Switch will perform better than the Wii U (to date figures are 13-ish million units, which is safe to assume is Nintendo's core audience) , but if it sells more than 20 million units I'd be surprised (which is a fifth of what the Wii sold).

That being said, I doubt nintendo is trying to capture Wii numbers that was a one time groundswell, but that makes the return of motion controls all the more perplexing.

i think its undeniable the switch is going to suffer from the lack of strong titles at launch. but ive never bought a console the second it launched so its not a big deal to me at all. other than that, nothing ive seen turns me off in any way. motion controls are fine. it looks fun.

Anyway been playing more MGSV and yeah.... this gameplay loop is getting a bit rough.

Just thinking of what could have been with this engine and a more linear, MGS like story.

Open world games have become super stale to me.

Edit: Wow didn't realize this reviewed so well. A 93... guess I'm harder to impress than most reviewers now
