i have a feeling you'll find Forever to be more interesting than I Am King, there's some definite curveballs here. but yeah thats all you can really do, listen with an open mind and hope for the best. like you said, just personal preference if you end up not liking it! excited to hear your thoughts either way since we do tend to enjoy a lot of the same kind of heavy music

I think the industrial, noise and electronic elements on this are a natural progression for them but at the same time still very risky. Would have been very easy to make I Am King 2.0 and just double down on the mosh and gaze-y parts to please the kids. I get what people mean now when they say they're not just trying to get huge off this album, you don't put songs like Hurt Goes On and Dream2 on a record like this if you're just aiming for a quick hit.

Would also throw in The Underdark

Document 8 is one of my favorite records and I had no idea Ballou produced it. Whoops.

This album is really good. Hurt Goes On/dream2 is such a great way to end it.

This album is so varied that I actually enjoy the stupidly heavy tracks.

No One is Untouchable has such a cool little guitar line in between those chunky chords starting at 1:00.

there isn't a proper word for the setting sun.

Don't think I'll be spending a lot of time with this. It just doesn't do it for me. That said, I'm super impressed with this band, and I can always go back to Cycles.

Giving a second listen now, I think I prefer I Am King but that might be more because this album deserves tons of spins for all they bring to it. I still think it's fantastic and love that they branch out.
