Zelda looks absolutely amazing and 64 style Mario is probably the thing I've wanted most from Nintendo in a long time but that presentation was not good.

 

Did they say anything about storage space?

 

ARMS could be another Splatoon-type killer so I'm in on it.

 

I'm a total sucker for new consoles, but always regret buying nintendo (minus 3ds). Plus I have a Wii U, so I could get Zelda on there. Who knows what I'll do. Probably drop the money for this.

 

Well yeah, it was rumoured to not even be at launch and in that case it just wouldn't be ready.

I'm very ready for Nintendo to make the switch to just game development though at this point. Looking at that Zelda trailer and how good Mario looks just shows how fantastic they are when they're just making games. I think at this point the consoles are just holding them back. I don't think they'll do it but I'm bored of Nintendo consoles after that.

 

Zelda looked stunning but that wasn't a spectacular showing IMO. There's some good stuff in there but as for convincing me I need a Switch until maybe this holiday, let alone launch it did not exactly do a great job.

 

This is what I was expecting during the announcement of the bundles but no mention.

 

Truly ridiculous that they opened their conference with 15 minutes of waggle controls

 

Probably a new version of Fast Racer NEO and a port of Ubisoft's Steep (which I mean, if the Switch can run it, is good news).

 

I might skip the Switch altogether. Mario looks great but I'm not going to buy a console for it and I'm guessing the next Zelda game will be on whatever their next console is.

Zelda trailer was one of the best I've ever seen though.

 

Definitely blew the presentation, hard. Like, if you're going to use multiple translators, make sure they can actually translate for fuck's sake. Ugh.

Love the console still, though. It's a great idea and really play's to Nintendo's strengths. All the extra features like local play with the joy-cons and the advanced haptic feedback they possess are cool, but not what I'm ultimately looking for from Nintendo (i.e. games).

Price point is a bit surprising given the tech we've all heard this thing is running. And now that we've seen the games in action we pretty much can assume that those reports were semi-accurate. Still though, I predicted it would be $250-$300 so I'm not that surprised.

Really, really shocked they're asking people to pay for online play. Their service has been historically terrible, which is probably why they're having such a lengthy trial period before putting up the pay wall. Have to convince everyone that DeNA actually accomplished something here.

The games they showed ranged from "tech demo that should be packed in with the console" (1 2 Switch) to awesomeholyshityes (Splatoon 2, Super Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade Chronicles 2). Zelda looks, just, mind-meltingly incredible. I was wondering how deep the story for the game was going to really be able to get considering how they're structuring the game/open world, but that trailer assuaged all those fears. This looks like it could be even more narrative-driven than Skyward Sword. That sizzle reel also had a lot of cool stuff in it. Definitely saw Disgaea and I believe Darkest Dungeon in there, among lots of other cool stuff. So that's obviously a good thing. Plus all those long-term, down-the-road projects are amazing (No More Heroes, Shin Megami Tensei, the Square Enix game). Also Switch is getting Dragon Quest X AND XI, so, great.

So, yeah. This is probably not going to win anyone over who cares about how a pre-launch presentation conducted in Tokyo and in Japanese went, rather than what the actual console does and what the games are like, etc. But for everyone else, I'd say we have a lot to look forward to. Still positive about the console and Breath of the Wild being confirmed for launch has me sold.

 

Considering there's a good chance a lot of the 3DS devs would be moving to Switch, it would probably fare better than Wii U. I'm hoping the 2nd half of the year would do wonders but I agree the presentation was OK.

Day one buy for zelda. And mario and splatoon

 

Apparently the Wii U version is coming out on March 31st. If that's true I'm never buying a Switch.

 

If that's true, that sucks but makes sense.

 

Wish we would have gotten a GCN VC announcement

 

Switch is probably a buy for me after the initial hype so probably summer/early fall.
