There are way too many trades I want coming out next week.

 

Thought your write-ups were fine! Super glad to see Umbrella Academy love, and that's hands down the best way to describe it haha.

 

Read Southern Bastards Vol 1. Definitely seems like it's gonna be a bit of a slow burn type of story

 

Definitely not a slow burn. I will say, it gets a lot better. If you weren't into the first trade, you might not be into it going forward.

 

I thought that volume moved way faster than I expected.

 

Oh I liked it I just feel like not a whole lot happened, figured each trade afterwards would start to show slightly more and more.

 

The next few trades give more back story to coach and the town as a whole. Its all leading up to a greater confrontation that I cannot wait for the to get to.

Just finished X-Men: Battle of the Atom.

I was hoping I'd like it more than most people, and really, I did. After all, Bendis' Uncanny gets a lot of hate and has become one of my favorite X-Men runs. Unfortunately, this event wasn't much better than people say. The central plot wasn't compelling, it should've been shorter, and some of the arguments dragged on (and I liked the arguments in Uncanny).

Still, I bought the hardcover for only $10, and between some of the fun alternate takes on characters and some of the good art moments, I'd say it was worth that $10.

 

Gotcha, I think I was just expecting a little more back story in Vol 1 so I assumed it was gonna be slow.

That art is great thought!

 

Hey, guys! Been super busy, but had a chance to read the second Vision volume and seriously enjoyed it. Tom King has to be my favorite current writer along with Jeff Lemire. The two are insane writers and they get paired with incredible artist (Smallwood and Gerads!)

I decided to start up a little webcomic called The Offices of... and am starting with the Speed Force! This is the first comic I've written and drawn (because I can't afford an artist) and I'm stoked to start it. Let me know what you guys think!

 

Reading a lot tonight, mostly in waiting for the Nintendo event.

Both Thor books are AWESOME. Really great that they are bringing Hela back (this is half a guess), even if it feels a bit soon. Shi'ar War looks like its going to be nuts. I missed reading this book so much. The colors alone are incredible.

All-Star Batman is kinda killing me with these plots that seem to start in the middle of a story. Jock's art is off the wall great. Glad we are seeing some payoff to this Duke subplot thing too.

FUCK Dynamite. This book seems like it could be going somewhere interesting, but why the hell did we need to go back to here wearing NOTHING? Blows my damn mind.

I've really been enjoying Moonshine. The story's been interesting so far. I'm just hoping the big reveal is coming soon.

God Country seems like it is going to be a cool book. The art is pretty awesome. Seemed like a good intro issue.

Renew Your Vows is wonderful. I hope they keep it going for a good while.

Grabbed I Am Gotham trade. The story's great but some of the pages look a bit blurry and it kind of throws me off. Not sure if all prints are really just like that or I was just unlucky.

 

Thanks! After doing that (and a mediocre job at best) I have so much envy for artists! They are insane at what they do!

 

Have you ever tried using software? I imagine that's what alot of artists do. Personally I think I enjoy the handdrawn/painted stuff the best either way haha!

 

I love the handrawn stuff, but I don't the hardware to try it out! I downloaded a trial of Illustrator, but it confused the hell out of me. Really want to use it, but don't know what would be best haha

 

So finally read DC Universe Rebirth #1 and damn that was great! Excited to check out all the trades when they release!

Already checked out Superman and Green Arrow from the library

 

Batman Rebirth came out this week, so I need to pick that up, but I'm waiting for the Flash to come out. Heard Superman is dope though.

 

Honestly I hate Superman but have heard good things so figured why not!

Plan to check out Aquaman and Batman next week

 

Action Comics has been amazing too. I actually prefer it to Superman but that's mainly because it's been telling a really interesting Lex story and been more focused on long arcs.

 

I've recently finished reading book 1 of umbrella academy. Loved it. I'm going to start book 2 soon
