that said, centres and music for public ensemble are competing for no. 1 this year. right now i actually think the latter has an edge which i didn't think possible.

so I listened to this and enjoyed it quite a bit - obviously reminded me of James Ferraro

who put one of my top albums of the year, btw:

you need this if you haven't listened to it yet!!

this new one puts the ideas developed in Far Side Virtual into a classical music context. if you haven't listened to Far Side Virtual, you need that too (and FSV is an obvious influence to this Sam Kidel album)

@Horrorca Grouper is amazing, the A | A collection is so good. You got any recommendations on stuff like her. I heard Jenny Hval is good?

    this should do the trick

Christina Carter from the legendary Charalambides has this record you would probably enjoy quite a lot too

J Barwick I really really like, but not sure if I would compare her with Grouper - G is more bleak/depressive mood-wise while Barwick is full of dreams an hope (maybe the last one changed the mood a little bit tho)... Barwick puts a lot more emphasis in vocals (his music is her vocals) too - Nepenthe is my fav from her

make sure to check out the other Liz Harris-affiliated projects

    Grouper and Tiny Vipers together

The Bug and Liz Harris, more electronic

Jefre Cantu-Ledesma and Liz Harris- some horns buried in the mix, really beautiful crawling stuff
