You know what's great about Star Wars being back? If you think back to some of the big blockbusters that we have had over the last few years and ones that are coming out you will notice a trend among them.

The Avengers - city gets destroyed
Man of Steel - city gets destroyed
Godzilla - multiple cities get destroyed
Avengers Age of Ultron - city and country (?) gets destroyed
Batman v Superman - city gets destroyed
X-Men Apocalypse - world (?) gets destroyed
Independence Day Resurgence - world (?) gets destroyed

Is anyone else fucking exhausted watching buildings getting demolished every summer?? I know I was cringing through the 9/11 imagery in Batman v Superman. I am just glad that there are quality movies being made where we aren't seeing our cities get eviscerated.

Sure, Star Wars blows up planets. But it's different, I don't know why it's different, it just is.

 

I would NOT be okay with what you put in the spoiler. I want these movies to stand on their own.

 

Has to be someone very important to need royal guards. I bet the person in the cloak is Mads character.

 

Given the success of the Marvel movies and all the other stuff there are going to be connections. I don't think it's avoidable.

 

That's assuming he's a bad guy, as usual. I more hope than think he'll be on the Rebellion's side.

Having trouble finding an article to source. I heard about it on a few podcasts. It will definitely have a much smaller budget than TFA.

There is this though to explain how aliens will be used in the movie.

There are rumors out there about Mads' character. Word is that he's the chief architect of the Death Star and possibly Jyn's father who has conflicted feeling about what he just made and decides to help the Rebels. Like an Oppenheimer / Einstein type thing.

 

Does anyone think they'll add the blue to Mendelson's skin in post-production and they'd hold it off for surprise value in the trailer here?

Trailer looks incredible, love the darker direction.

 

I think it's plot driven violence vs demolition for demolition's sake.

I don't think Luke Skywalker likes the new trailer.

 

Reminds him of a time when he was stuck on a moisturize farm missing out on the rest of the galaxy.

 

Well, the latest rumors for Rebels is that Thrawn will show up in s3 as an admiral. So that would fit in line with that. They could easily give him some back story in s3 leading up to this release.
Someone else may have told you this. I don't have time to read the rest of the thread. But I wanted to chime in. So excited!

 

There's too many people on social media referencing dead Bothans for this trailer. I just want to scream "THAT WAS IN JEDI! THAT WAS FOR THE 2ND DEATH STAR YOU FOOLS!"

Although I'm looking forward to Rogue Two: Dead Bothans.

 

I went from not really caring either way to being run-around-the-block-ripping-out-my-hair-stoked for this. I love that this generation of Star Wars is committed to being diverse and more inclusive.

 

Love the Dark Trooper armor shown, looks so damn menacing.

 

Holy fucking cow, the level of hyperbole in the comment sections across the internet. Like simmer down, adult children, it's just Star Wars, a film series. I love it too but I'm not going to scream like a child who didn't get his or her way about something you literally saw two minutes of. Sorry, I had to get that out.

 

BTW, what's up with the catty Hunger Games comments I'm seeing around?

I've been dreaming about seeing Admiral Thrawn in a movie for so many years and I'm happy it looks like it's going to happen! The trailer looks great. Can't wait
