Speaking of Metallica, I have a friend who thinks Loaded (or was it Load) was their best album.

Remember, friends don't let friends get friends haircuts.

All I know is that they come to where I live in STL about once a year and play a big venue, so they have to be doing something right. I'll have to check them out sometime, all I know is MMMbop

I think Load has some great songs on it, but Ride/Master/Black are the best no doubt. I'd argue Ride, but I can't argue if someone else says Master or Black.

Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets blend together to me. Black is their intro to radio-friendly territory, and it goes downhill from there.

Kill Em All is probably Metallica at their best and most aggressive.

I'm a very new Metallica fan, but I'd pick either Black or Load as their best. haha

What the hell was on Load, anyway? I seriously don't even remember.

"King Nothing". Honestly I couldn't think of another song on it.

Yea I just looked up the discography.

I have to choose Black because I can literally listen to every song on the album. I can't say the same for the rest.

Man, not to take away from any Metallica album, I absolutely love every one of them besides St Anger, but the first 3 tracks on each Ride and Master solidified those as the best (it doesn't get any better than Fire, Ride and Bell Tolls back to back) and as someone said above, the black album has the best collection of songs.

Black Album was a bonafide greatest hits album as soon as it hit.

The reason Transistor is the best 311 album is because you have songs like Beautiful Disaster, Use of Time and Starshines on the same album. Each of them sound as if they're from a different band, or at least years apart on different albums.

  17. I get why people hate it but I like how the drums sound on Saint Anger (the song)

This might be a stretch. But since I have 311 on the brain, I'm thinking of some funk. S.C.I.E.N.C.E from Incubus came out the same time as 311's Transistor (1997), then that led me to think of Brandon Boyd's brother's band Audiovent. They weren't funk in the least bit, but has anyone ever listened to them?

The drum sounds and lack of solos are an interesting idea, and worked for a few songs but to do the whole album like that was a terrible idea. I still like Frantic and St Anger as songs though.

I have one Audiovent cd, not sure if they have more but I like it! Bringing up SCIENCE makes me sad because it was soooo good and I'd love another album in the vein. I like Make Yourself and Morning View a lot, but would love that style back. I know they promoted Light Grenades as a sort of return to that, but no....

Hanson shows always sell out here. I'd love to see them someday. Love Taylor.

I'm sure Hanson has a ton of stuff out, what's the song/album I should check out first?

That's how Light Grenades was promoted? Wow.

Audiovent just has the one album. But damn, do the Boyd brothers have talent. Jason is basically a "rougher" version of Brandon. Not to mention Mike's (guitarist from Incubus) brother was also in Audiovent.

They were good, probably could have went places, but of course they didn't.

I still feel that SCIENCE is my favorite Incubus album, and Deep Inside is a top 5 track from them. Brandon had vocal talent even back then, but didn't really show it until Morning View and later. Make Yourself was good, but it came at the peak of Nu-Metal and some of those other weird alternative styles, so it never really became as popular as it maybe should have.

Morning View, on the other hand, is just brilliant. I love that damn album. Wish You Were Here takes me right to the southern California beaches and is one of the few songs that actually makes me "feel" something.

    Thank you!

Yeah, it was suppose to be going back to their roots and be heavy and faster, and granted with Rouges and the title track it kind of was but no where near as fast as SCEINCE. I felt cheated lol.

And yeah, agreed on morning view. As much as wish they hadn't changed so much, I love that the album exists.
