I'm getting Bendis'd out. His stuff just has not been as good as it was years ago. I don't know if it is ideas being stretched thin, or what.

I've been reading his Avengers stuff and I started getting bored during the end of Secret Invasion and really wasn't feeling Dark Reign but I liked Siege and the Avengers/New Avengers volumes directly after.

Honestly, I don't mind Peter doing an Iron Man thing. I wish the character had gone the Renew Your Vows route in main continuity, but as someone who doesn't want the character to stagnate, if family man Peter isn't an option, I like seeing what that character does in this new setting. Though, I think I saw an upcoming trade solicitation that implied this status quo could implode later this year?

The endless resets to Peter really bum me out, lol.

    (Insert childish, distasteful joke here.)

Bendis is hit-or-miss when it comes to big casts (his GOTG is super mediocre, Civil War II didn't work, and I hear his Avengers work started to suck by the end), but even with current work, I have yet to read a character-driven title of his that I don't at the very least enjoy.

My favorite Bendis work is definitely all of Miles Morales, from his start in Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man through the current Spider-Man series. A close #2 is his work on Jessica Jones with Gaydos, from Alias through the current Jessica Jones series. (I'd include just the third arc of The Pulse in that.) Though, those are characters he created, so that's easy.

I'm forever a stan for his Uncanny X-Men, lol, but dang it do I love his Scott Summers take. The only big event of his I've read besides CWII is House of M, but I loved that. Obviously his classic Daredevil run is fantastic. The Spider-Woman miniseries was awesome. The current Infamous Iron Man series with Doom is off to a great start.

Basically, give Bendis a main character with baggage that he can sink his teeth into, pair him with the right artist, and he'll give you gold.

Only Bendis that I've enjoyed is Miles. I've tried various others and just can't get into it. Don't know if it's just the Marvel Universe or him

I agree he's been touch and go for me lately. Powers really withered away, I can't even follow it anymore. I really liked most of the All-New/Uncanny X-Men he was doing but even that got weak. Miles was losing me for a little not too long ago but I'm interested again, so we'll see. His Ultimate Spider-Man and Daredevil are my favorites of his.

Nah, I knew it was coming. It's just so sad seeing him go through all this shit and keep talking about his future knowing that he dies and hes like the one person in the Marvel universe who won't come back.

Now to return it to the library and hope I don't pick up a ton of other comics. Trying to read the stuff I actually own now haha.

I need to pick up that and the Sirens books and I think I have all of the Harley stuff that's floating around.

Yeah. I returned the comics and only left with On Bowie by Rob Sheffield, which is a book I'll actually need to read soon anyway. So I'm calling that a success haha. Now after I ready Deadly Class Vol. 1, I'll be doing a lot of staring at my shelf trying to decide what to read next.

I've read the first three trades, have the next on pre order, and put the following issue on my pull, so I'm almost ready to be caught up! haha. I love it. The show is really good too.

Picked up last week and this week's pull, and did more reading.

Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows continues to be the best version of Spider-Man. This issue didn't further the plot much 'cause it overlapped with last issue, but I like that they've alternated between Peter, MJ, and Annie's perspective.

Spider-Man was alright. Didn't like the approach of Miles telling the story in past tense, but I'm looking forward to where this story goes. A Spider-Man/Spider-Gwen crossover from Bendis, Pichelli, Latour, and Rodriguez can't be bad, right?

Superman was a blast. Multiverse! Multiple Supermen! This is such a fun series. I hope the upcoming crossover with Action Comics doesn't ruin it.

Avengers was a similar blast. Time paradox nonsense! Waid and Del Mundo are seriously a fantastic team for this series. I really hope Del Mundo can keep up with the monthly schedule, or at least that any necessary fill-ins down the road are for brief mini-arcs with similarly gifted artists.

I was behind on Green Lanterns and read 3 issues today, wrapping up the Phantom Lantern arc. I continue to love Jessica Cruz, but man, this series would benefit so much from becoming monthly. Both longer arcs so far have felt about an issue or so too long. With the exciting Marvel titles on the horizon, this may get dropped pretty soon.

Shade the Changing Girl is a constant visual treat. Story-wise, the alien stuff isn't super compelling, but the stuff with Shade herself is top-notch bizarre comic work.

Mighty Thor is another visual treat. This issue was nonstop action, perhaps a little too quickly, but it was fun and made me excited for what's to come. Intrigued by these Shiar gods.

Jessica Jones is making more sense as it goes along, which is what I expected. It's doing the typical Bendis slow burn approach, but with Gaydos art and a character like Jessica, that's fine.

This was the weakest issue of Scarlet Witch thus far, which is a shame since it was the climax and seemingly the penultimate issue. Still, it wasn't bad. Mostly, I'm sad that things seem to be winding down. Hopefully next issue is a fitting finale.

Would anyone here be interested in doing a podcast on Sunday or Monday? I would love to cover Flashpoint, The Killing Joke, or even some other trades if those aren't of as much interest for Welcome To Geekdom. All I ask is that you record audio on your end, which can typically be easily done through Garageband or Audacity.

I dont know if i could do it this weekend but i would totally be up for guesting on it sometime if you need someone to sit in again. I would need to buy a microphone.

Okay, cool! Microphone wouldn't need to be necessary! 100% up to you though. I had a sports podcast for a bit and my co-host just used his laptop mic. Would you mind shooting me an email at [email protected]? I can send you the Google Spreadsheet I'm using for guests to add topics/schedule times.

My favourite comic book written by my favourite comic book writer and illustrated by one of my favourite artists. "The series is set in 2089, a time when humanity is addicted to technology and entertainment. It follows the story of constables Debbie Decay and Led Dent, working as peacekeepers in the Isles of Los Angeles. They are given a job that will take them to the last tech-free country on Earth: the garden nation of Tokyo. Remender summarizes it as being "a big, visual, exciting story that at the heart of it is hiding the fact that it's really a love story."" - SpyKi

Incredible story based on the idea of The Vision, of Avengers fame, trying to live a normal family life with a wife and two children that he created. Constantly surprising and engaging, I didn't expect this to go most of the places it did and it's easily one of the best things I've read since I got into comics. - SpyKi

There's mine. Sorry the write-ups are so shit, I find them very difficult to do, I even stole most of the TG one from Wikipedia because I was having trouble explaining the plot/what I liked about it in a blurb. I wanted to put something for these three books though because I think they're all wonderful.
