I'd rather it be a Russian Circles headline show, but beggars aren't choosers. I'll have to see what ticket prices are going to be like at the Aragon for this.

 

I haven't seen Mastodon in 5 years probably so I'm pretty stoked for this. Russian Circles and EODM are added bonuses.

 

when i saw them at this fest, it was literally everything i hate about big rock music. dude was an asshat on stage, just a disgusting dude

 

For me, Mastodon will never top the set I saw them play on the Volcom Tour in Richmond in 2010.

That was a perfect show for me at the time with Between the Buried and Me and Valient Thorr opening. If I remember correctly, Baroness was also on that tour and didn't play the RVA show for some reason, but I digress. It's hard for me to get as excited about Mastodon when their last two albums felt like clunkers to me compared to their first four releases.

 

that's a bummer. In all honesty, I haven't really listened to them in a few years, but I quite enjoyed some of their older stuff. Josh Homme always kinda seemed like a dick, but I don't really know anything about him personally.

I probably wouldn't go see EODM on their own, but I'd definitely go see Russian Circle or Mastodon, so it was nice to have support from a band that I don't dislike.

 

it was all the frontman that was just weird, making weird vaguely sexist comments, just weird rockstar dude behavior. plus the whole weird comments about the paris thing...

 

yeah, that would definitely leave a bad taste in my mouth too. hope that kinda shit doesn't happen at my show.

 

as much as i hate jesse, their shows are fun as hell and the music is pretty great. him being a fucking shithead wouldn't keep me from seeing two bands i love and one band i like decently enough

 

god dammit, their charlotte date is this festival that's the day of my law school graduation that a perfect circle is playing as well, why couldnt they do a normal show ughhhhh

 

Sleep is coming here in April and MONO is opening.

 

mono is a really great relatively unsung band

 

Same when I saw them. I'd never listened to them, and arrived as he was playing a song with a small bottle of whiskey somebody handed him (awesome), and then he followed that up with some pretty inappropriate remarks about a "sexy young girl" in the audience (not awesome).

New record is post-metal enough for this thread, no? I loved it.

Got some catching up to do from last year still. Biggest sleeper album for me was gojira, been listening non stop for the past month

 

Wasn't huge on The Hunter, but adore Once More 'Round the Sun.

 

Yeah that Ulcerate album was heavy af.

 

Really been digging it lately.

Husband/wife duo playing sludgey atmospheric shoegazey stuff w breathy vocals. Some Isis style post-metal moments as well.
