An acquaintance of mine mixed and mastered both the Fuath and Saor releases from last year and did a hell of a job. Both of those releases sound beautiful. His own band (Vukari) also put out a solid atmospheric black metal record last year.

Yeah, Rheia was really good. Loved their Audiotree set as well.

 

Both Oathbreaker and Harikiri for the Sky were solid, IMO. Didn't crack my top 25, but I probably need to give both a few more listens.

 

that may be my favorite audiotree session ever. they sound amazing and proves them losing their drummer wasnt a huge deal because the new guy can fucking shred

 

geez watching the oathbreaker audiotree now. I haven't heard their album but will def check it out now

Yeah dude! They're of the epic/atmospheric black variety. They've been around for 20 years lol:

And they've inspired tons of other BM bands like Emyn Muil, Caladan Brood, Mirkwood, Rivendell, Bal-Sagoth, etc.

The Oathbreaker album was a big surprise for me and shook up my top 10 a good bit. It's been a little while since I've listened to it, but there were a few moments on that album that truly blew me away

don't know why eodm is on there, kind of sucks

 

opeth and gojira are on the philly date

EODM are dope. Don't really fit that bill, but...
