I didn't think I cared about Nick Fury outside of supporting roles, and I still don't know if I care enough to add this to my pull (I'll probably trade-wait)... But, still, this actually looks really cool.

Might do one as well if I'm in a writing mood. The ones that hits me hardest are mostly slice of life so I'd probably go with Daytripper.

Gonna be a tough one though

@Henry, I wrote the couple new blurbs I said I wanted to write:

    Uncanny X-Men (2013)
    W: Brian Michael Bendis
A: Chris Bachalo; Kris Anka; various
The Cyclops at the center of this story is often called a terrorist, but I prefer activist. Scott Summers isn't a villain for defying SHIELD and threatening oppressors with violence after decades of attempting dialogue. In an era of Trump and BLM, I find it easy to say, "Cyclops was right."

    Love and Rockets: Locas
    W/A: Jaime Hernandez
Los Bros Hernandez have been producing Love and Rockets work since the 80s, but it's Jaime's half that I want to highlight here. Maggie and Hopey's ongoing "Locas" saga is a delicious mix of the punk rock scene, vintage Archie, obscure Golden Age comics, professional wrestling, Chicanx life, and more.

The Love and Rockets blurb should have this linked: The Comic Pusher: Reading Love and Rockets - The Definitive Guide to Comics' Supreme Masterpiece ...and then a link to "Maggie the Mechanic" on Amazon or IST, since that's the first volume of the "Locas" stories. L&R is confusing to navigate without that guide, lol.

Finished Harley Quinn: Night and Day earlier. Really enjoyed it. Will have to check out the other stuff Karl Kessel wrote for the character.

I really enjoyed that run. Any time the Dodson's are on art, I'm all in.

The main library by me has two more of his trades so I'll have to pick those up at some point. Next few reads will be Green Arrow: Archer's Quest, Deadly Class Vol. 1, and Batman Adventures: Mad Love.

I see some little formatting things that I think should be tweaked, but instead of telling you about them for you to fix after your undertaking (like an unappreciative brat), I'll just make the tweaks myself. One thing I'm changing is that, if there's more than one run of the same name (Batman; Uncanny X-Men), I think it makes sense to include the year it started, which I believe is typically the common way to differentiate between volumes. (Usually that or "Vol. [x]," which could be confusing 'cause "volumes" are also different trades in a single run, lol.)

@Henry, can you copy and paste that updated version of the blurb list?

I'm looking forward to others in this thread writing up recommendations to be added to this list! w00t. Comic community is fun.

Not sure what you mean. I just quoted it and copied and pasted stuff around. Heading to bed now though.

Ended up ordering more books too, because I can't control myself.

@Henry here are my additions, as well! Let me know if you'd like me to grab the IST links, but I did do Amazon.

    Batman: The Long Halloween
    W: Jeph Loeb
    A: Tim Sale
When I first started getting into comic just a couple years ago, I mainly started by diving into Batman. It took me a while to get to this one, but it instantly blew me away. Jeph Loeb crafts a story with some great twists] and we get a great villain story that doesn't include much of the Joker at all. - Deanna
    Amazon

    Ultimate Spider-Man
    W: Brian Michael Bendis
    A: Mark Bagley
Thank goodness for Marvel Unlimited, because I binge read the crap out of this series. I finished all 133 issues in about 2 weeks. While that may not fit everyone's definition of "binge reading," it was a lot for me. BMB made Peter Parker such a joy to read and I loved the art from Mark Bagley. - Deanna
    Amazon

    Y: The Last Man
    W: Brian K. Vaughan
    A: Pia Guerra
This is a series that I have yet to finish, but after reading the first two books, I'm hooked. BKV brings a unique, interesting story to the table. Once you start one of the books, you won't want to put it down. There is literally one man left, and you can image how many interesting turns that can take. - Deanna

The quote portion in my post was tweaked from what's there. I fixed some spacing stuff and little things in the comic book names to make them look better.

Now that @Deanna posted hers, I'm gonna edits hers into my post, too, just to make things easier for you.

Alright, the post is 100% updated and ready to replace the first post when @Henry next has the chance. Here it is again:

If copying and pasting from a quote in a post is annoying, I can remove the quote tags. Since you're a mod, though, you should be able to edit this post to copy it if you have to, though, right?

Here's the format for future reference:

    Series Name (Year) (PUBLISHER)
    W: Writer Name(s)
    A: Artist Name(s)
This is where the blurb goes! - User Name
    InStockTrades Amazon

The year is just for titles with multiple #1s over the years, like Batman, Red Sonja, Hawkeye, etc.

I know which three I want to do, I'm a bad writer though so my blurbs will suck. I'll try and do them later tonight though.

I've probably said this before or multiple times, but BMB's Peter Parker run of Ultimate Spider-Man is what go me back into comics. I read prelude/Death of Spider-Man and my friend was like, yeah the same guy wrote the whole series. Went back and binged the whole thing, still go back and reread it, and have been slowly buying all the TPB's to have the whole collection.

I'm on volume 12 or something of USM and I love it so much. I love that the art stays the same for so long even if I wasn't in love with it at first. I'm kind of sad knowing that this Peter Parker dies though, haha.

USM was my first exposure to Bendis, who's now perhaps my favorite writer. It's also easily the best version of high school Peter.

Unfortunately, I don't like high school Peter that much, so I never read a lot of that run and haven't gone back to it in a while. I'm all about adult Peter (or high school Miles).

Also, made this yesterday and will probably post it every time I see a Spider-conversation and feel compelled to jump in, lol:

haha nice. yeah I'm indifferent to college or adult Peter Parker depending on the story, but I really don't like the whole Peter Stark thing right now with Parker Industries. Though I am enjoying the main stories around it, just don't like that part of the character right now.
