Thought Beyond the Gates had an awesome premise and shitty execution, wasn't feeling it at all unfortunately

Any sort of commentary on that bad boy?

  8. I'll let ya know. This is my first watch through regardless haha

  9. An American Werewolf in London is such a masterful, fun film. The idea of what a remake could offer actually excites me, but if I'm honest, knowing Max is behind it (despite being John's son) makes me slightly less optimistic.

I'm super excited to see what he does with it, but yeah, his track record is not great

I've been anticipating the female-directed anthology XX for like two years now. I knew Karyn Kusama and Jennifer Lynch were involved, but I'm reading Annie Clark (St Vincent) also directed one of the shorts. so that's cool

Oh I guess I'm wrong about Jennifer Lynch too

I enjoyed Beyond the Gates. It's definitely made strictly for horror fans. You can read my review here.

    Will do, thanks.

  14. Same. It's weird because I usually enjoy his written pitches, even his pitches on Movie Fights, and I can usually find something to enjoy about his films, but none of them have even been close to being as solid as Chronicle was.

Looks like commentary with Adam Wingard and Simon Barret, 6 part making of doc, and exploring the set.

Who watched the new Phantasm movie? I use to love those movies as a kid. The new one has all the original characters!

Has anyone in here seen Don't Go In The Woods?

    Directed by Vincent D'Onofrio.

It's a decent little horror flick but the thing that stands out is the musical pieces within the movie. Think of an emo-horror Les Miserable.

This, the selection has greatly improved and is filled with gems and crucial films of the genre. Plus, hard to beat $5 a month for a ton of content.

Watched Blair Witch, I was rather letdown.

Netflix's horror section is interesting, that's for sure. I ended up watching a slasher with perez Hilton in it lol...wasn't even completely terrible until the end!

  21. Watched a French film called Evolution. It was a doozy, and I'm still wrapping my head around it. Not an easy film to recommend, but if you enjoy slow-moving/artsy/surreal/disturbing, go for it.

I watched it and had the exact same reaction. I still haven't decided if I actually liked it or not haha

  23. Ya, just one of those movies where I'm like, "This is interesting to think about, but am I enjoying it?" ha.

I was totally in the wrong mindset for it to begin with. I saw it at a festival, read on the program that it was a French film and because I'm an asshole who only associates the French with one style of horror, I assumed it was going to be French Extremism haha. I was very wrong.

  25. Haha no I get that. The majority of French horror I've seen are in the French Extremism category. I saw the trailer for this prior, so I knew going into it that it wouldn't be in that sub-genre.
