APC couldn't string together a consistent record. Mer De Noms has some fantastic songs on it and then some meh.

 

APC has good/great songs. Tool have amazing songs and solid albums as well. Both are good bands

 

damn, you guys are right. Thinking about it, I like APC songs better, but they don't have cd I don't skip through.

 

Tool have a pretty much perfect record when it comes to albums. APC don't.

 

Here's a hot take, I like Chevelle more than both of them. I think This Type of Thinking trumps all!

 

I hadn't listened to Hail to the Thief yet since it's not considered one of their better albums, but it's funny. I have thought that it might be a good introduction based on what I've read about it. Doesn't seem to be as abstract. I have listened to The Bends a little but I need to go back to it. I've been going to their most critically acclaimed work and it all seems to be some of their more complicated stuff. I think I feel with the majority of their discography how a lot of hardcore Radiohead fans feel about King of Limbs in that most of their stuff feels cold and disconnected to me. At least at this point.

 

Tool has been my very favorite band for years and years. They have the worst fans tho.

I regret to inform you that I was one of those fans in high school.

 

Tool has never been anywhere near the lane that APC operates in, with poppier, more atmospheric songs, straying away from the proggier nature of Tool. They're completely different bands that can be enjoyed for completely different reasons. Cmon yall.

I never listened to Tool, because I don't like the name.

 

I only tried their albums a couple times but I wasn't really a fan

 

I liked them the one time I listened but I haven't really spent much time with them outside of that.

Yes tool has bad fans but if you won't even check out a band because of their fans you're, well, a tool

 

i don't actually mean that lol there's nothing about them that's ever interested me to listen to them, though they're on my list so i'll check them out soon
but yeah the stereotypical tool fan is the definition of internet music snob lol

I see where Casey is coming from but I'm also extremely petty

 

I've definitely done that before so I feel Casey but at the end of the day fan bases are easy enough to get over.

I will say that this "Tool fans are a-holes" stigma is something I have never ran into

 

I didn't listen to ICP for a long time cause of the fan base. Then I did and the music was bad

 

I would say the typical Tool fan (in my head) are like dumb stoners - not really "snobby"
