I feel like there has been a HUGE shift in opinion on their lyrics. They used to get praised pretty highly back in the day.

Because people grew up. Their lyrics are meant for fourteen year olds. It would make sense that as people got older, they liked their lyrics less

i think their lyrics were always praised only within the "scene" or whatever you'd like to call it

Seeing these FOB opinions is making me realize that I'm actually going to grow out of them one day. I genuinely never thought I would haha.

Speaking of FOB, their usage of Cohen's Hallelujah in Hum Hallelujah is more offensive than all the lyrics on TTTYG combined.

I still like fob over a decade later but I don't have that same reverence I did when I was younger. I no longer think they're edgy geniuses for having violent lyrics set to poppy fun beats but I still enjoy some albums and songs and follow their career. Except that Ghostbusters song I did not follow that path.

I still listen to Fall Out Boy a lot. Too many great memories to not. Plus, I have all these Pete Wentz lyrics seared into my brain from high school, what else am I going to do with those but shamelessly sing them at the top of my lungs in my car while I'm driving with the windows down and the volume turned up regardless of who's in the car with me and no matter what the weather is like outside.

I wonder if Pete Wentz would ever consider writing another book. Gray was pretty terrible in my opinion (absolutely no plot or character development), but I'd like to know if his writing has progressed a lot since then.

I wonder how many times fall out boy has been discussed xD

Still love Fall Out Boy, sans-AB/AP

The lyrics on TTTYG have never bothered me because they never came off as serious to me, even back then. It's petty break-up stuff. It's like "Before He Cheats" or "Goodbye Earl" to me. Catharsis through overblown, bitter lyrics. Now if someone actually acts like/says those things in real life, I'd be worried.

Similar to The Smiths. Do I want to die by someone's side when a bus hits me? No. Do I get some kind of catharsis from the core feeling under the exaggeration? Sure.

    I really like AB/AP.

I'm also not really a FOB fan.

kindred is the 2nd best passion pit album, and is no where near as bad as people make it out to be.

It's easily the worst passion pit album. I wouldn't call it horrible, but not much reason to come back to it

Release My Mind, My Garden Grows

FOB peaked with Cork Tree for me but everything pre-hiatus was enjoyable. I tried with their last two but they make me feel nothing whatsoever. I completely understand that bands change and sometimes its a change that is out of my personal taste but it bums me out that they took things where they did. Hoping they get bored with the straight up pop and decide to do a more rock/pop rock/pop punk oriented record at some point in the near future.

  25. I'd say there's like a 0% chance of that happening haha. They did that Pax Am EP and that was probably more than enough to satisfy that itch when they last had it.
