My mother's a heathen; she hates Publix and the fact that my brother and I buy Publix subs at least once a week

Publix subs are the best. Now I know what I'm eating for lunch tomorrow.

Listen. I spent the two years I was at UF complaining to any native Floridian I came across how Publix is not the second coming of Jesus because WEGMAN'S EXISTS and they didn't understand :( Also Wegman's subs are better than Publix's, sorry.

Anyway I heavily regret living in Florida for two years because it's an irredeemable hellscape in almost every conceivable way, but I guess there were some good things about it. Like the Dalí museum in St. Pete which was fantastic.

Question to people born and raised in Florida: why do you all seem to insist that "the rain will be over in five minutes it's not a big deal" when from June to September it rained with the force of a thousand oceans flooding down from the heavens for three hours every fucking day? At least in Gainesville it did. Also it rains sideways so like lol what are umbrellas.

Also I always thought it was funny when it would get like, one degree below 70 and people would start wearing like heavy winter gear and I'm like CALM DOWN y'all.

I have a lot of thoughts about Florida. Sorry.

Alright, it was a little overboard. Tried to be a little tongue in cheek but I'm working on no sleep so I'm sorry if I came across as an ass. Meant to be in a joking tone.

Honestly there are a lot of things I prefer about Florida to other places I've lived, but the huge cockroaches just outweigh everything. I still have nightmares about those things crawling on the walls and I think it permanently scarred my memories of living there haha

I'll never forget the one I saw in St. Augustine. it was unreal. once my friends and I were hanging out in Gainesville (where most of us lived at the time) and we just happened to be in a Captain D's parking lot and I look over in the grass because I heard this weird noise and there are hundreds of roaches writhing around out there. it was one of the strangest and most shocking moments of my life. I still can't shake it

Publix's sin, in my mom's eye, is that it's more expensive than Walmart, Costco, Sam's Club, or the Latino supermarkets she'd rather shop at. But like mom....the food's worth it?????

One of the things I'm glad Florida has is Pollo Tropical. At least in the major cities.

I've only been there once, but I wasn't really impressed. They just opened a new one around the corner from me so I need to give it another chance.

I mean, it's a quick fix fast food that makes me feel less crappy than say Taco Bell or McDonald's.

I work there, and I like it I think, lol. (Honestly the 50% discount is what keeps me there mostly, so good)

Anyone going to Rockville in Jax? It's a great lineup this year.

    what is the vibe?

Publix is pretty awful now that I've done research on their employee treatment, politics, etc. But yes their sandwiches (and cookies!) are fantastic.

A new Pollo Tropical opened by my house. This thread inspired me to give it another chance, and I must admit I've been converted. I'm about to eat it for the second time in a week. Very different than I recall from my first trip years ago.

Going to Orlando and Panama city for honeymoon in april. Definitely doing SeaWorld, trying to decide if epcot and or universal are worth it. Any go to food places or cool sights anyone can recommend?

If you're going to either, definitely choose Islands of Adventure (@ Universal). As for food, definitely go to Perkins (in Orlando) for breakfast at least, they have amazing muffins.

Cheapest universal for both parks? Decided against epcot in favor of universal.

I have an annual pass. I went with the preferred pass since there's no blackout dates (it's the best option). I'm actually going next weekend.
