I have some ideas I put together around when it came out, but usually I'm lazy and just put it on in the original order. Using a resequencing always feels cheap to me

Funny sequencing is being mentioned, before the album dropped I sat in the van with Ben Cato and listened to the record and he played it in a much different way and I enjoyed it much more that way. Don't remember exactly how it went though.

I'd probably play it in original sequencing at most times too, I don't like it, but I rarely mess with such things on my own ;p @SayHello that sounds interesting, wondering if there were some shitty label decisions, or just the rest of the guys would have some different ideas.

I can't say in fact, but my guess would be that it ended up being sequenced that way because that's the way AJ wanted it.

I think I remember Cody or someone else in the band saying they put literally no thought into it.

It took me a long time to get over the use of "misleaded"

I'm still not over it. Love the song, but that bugs the hell out of me.

I think my version of Golden Record was:

    Catholic Girls
    Honesty
    Drowning
We Will Wait in the Fog
    Miles Apart
    Into the Comfort
    Knives
    Sins
    I'm So Pathetic
    Anchor

I recall liking it a lot more, but I haven't listened to that album in so long that I don't remember spending much time with this tracklist.

Also, re: the "misleaded" line. Why didn't anyone tell them? I mean, fuck, that song has such an incredible bridge and it's still almost wrecking by them using a word that isn't a word in the chorus.

I have to imagine they were made aware of it and just chose to keep it in anyway. I refuse to believe it wasn't brought to their attention and it just slipped through the cracks...

It's getting to be the time of year where the sun is shining and it's warm out and I break out RFTS and War Paint and listen to them 20 times in a row

They were one of my favorite bands for the longest time. My former name, CatholicSins, was Catholic Girls and Sins combined together. The whole ending of the band put a sour taste in my mouth. However, a few minutes ago I started listening to Reach for the Sun and it was like meeting with an old friend you haven't seen in a while.

  13. This band was one of my favs but the band drama and that shitty kickstarter really helped me get over them quick

I agree with what a couple of others have said - I ADORED the first two albums to the point where I didn't care about the drama but by the time the breakup happened it left such a bad taste in my mouth that I haven't listened to them much at all, or even wanted to, since they called it quits.

However, this thread is making me want to again.

Lol, that's almost worse. "Oh, yeah, we know it's wrong. We're going to keep it anyway."

I got to see them play a lot the spring/summer when RFTS was coming out. They were so good, especially Tyler on drums.

I've always wondered if they are tempted to just do a new band without Cody.

Ha, maybe they just couldn't think of a replacement they felt good about? Idk.

Or maybe they really didn't pay attention in school. But it would shock me to think someone capable of writing such powerful lyrics would make such an elementary mistake without awareness.

I'd love them to do just that ;P

Haha, this is funny, but I haven't noticed it before. But I guess that's because English is not my first language, although I do know that this word is wrong, but it just goes unnoticed somehow.

I'm sorry I don't laugh at the right time

Absolutely loved RFTS and it really captured a specific time in my life. My wife and I had the acoustic version of "Where I want to Be" played as our wedding entrance music.

It's probably just because they needed that word to fit with the melody. And I think that artistic license is a thing to some extent, but that part always makes me cringe.

yeah Parachute was a sleeper click for me (even more so than the entirety of both WP and RFTS were - i owned and had listened to both of them over six months before i "got" them for what they would ultimately mean to me - Parachute was on the back end of that timeline) but it remains probably my favorite and most meaningful song by them/up there in general

I'm not sure artistic license extends to making up words, personally. lol

It does feel a little more like a grammar mistake than a made-up word. Sometimes I find those mistakes endearing, but yeah, that one's pretty egregious. It keeps the flow of the line going, though, so it's never bothered me too much. Plus there's the fun irony of what he's saying and how he's saying it, if we REALLY wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.

yeah I really see it more as incorrect grammar to fit into the line, which doesn't seem to uncommon. Don't get me wrong though, it still bugs me
